Who did this? Who is this artistic genius, this inspired mastermind, this absolute legend who works at the Chania Maritime Museum?

Novelette submitted! So glad to be able to read other people’s words for a while…

Finished the first draft of a novelette last night 🎉 Now to revise and try to convince someone to publish a 14000 word existential crisis of a story about art history, severed limbs, and … space whales? #amwriting #scifi #sff #writesky

Sure, I mean they both make me want to drink heavily...

Slowly making it through my short story backlog and finally got to "Liberation" by @tadethompson.bsky.social Love this story. African politics, colonial legacies, ingenuity and hope, beautifully written. Big fan of science fiction that is deeply rooted in reality. #SFF #SciFi #BookSky #shortstory

Just hit 10k words on my work in progress, which is a huge milestone for me. Most of my work is 2500 words or less - I like to get right to the point it seems - so this is a whole new terrifying world. #amwriting #writingcommunity #writesky #SpecFic

Definitely the standout piece of the latest issue of @clarkesworldmagazine.com - a beautiful and compelling read.

Can't wait to start this!

Oh also you can get the ebook right now for 99c, I am forgetting geni.us/Solarissale

Quiet plea from an unpublished: could more people please do this? It really helps to normalize rejections and emphasize that publishing is a marathon, not a sprint.

If you see this, quote with the energy you bring to Bluesky.

The ebook of my first novel, last year's Nebula and Ignyte-winning, Le Guin and Hugo-nominated THE SAINT OF BRIGHT DOORS, is on sale at $2.99 right now across most ebook retailers! If you were holding out for a really good deal 👉🏾👉🏾 bookshop.org/p/books/the-...

This is one of the most powerful pieces of short sci-fi I've read in a long time.

This is the strongest case for being pro-climate change I have ever seen.

I'm late to this, but if you haven't read "Inside the House of Wisdom" by Tamara Masri in @lightspeedmagazine.com, it's an achingly beautiful, heart wrenching piece that masterfully captures the relationships between hope, despair, resilience, and identity: www.lightspeedmagazine.com/fiction/insi...

Unsurprised to see that the university I used to teach at is not on this list.

Sigh. This* is why we can't have nice things. * the billionaires www.theguardian.com/books/2025/a...

I swear. Writing is the only discipline where we make people feel like failures for practising. How many songs does a violinist learn that never wind up in recital? How many studies do painters do? Acting exercises. Tennis for fun. You're allowed to write without the intention of publishing.

Why would you share this?

This is a great piece by @foxesandroses.bsky.social Surreal and sad, with the perfect amount of the unexplained. Enough to hook you in without getting bogged down in details that would distract you from the story.

This is an absolutely lovely piece. In just 1200 words, @gwillow.me paints a vivid and engaging glimpse of humanity enduring a broken world: www.uncannymagazine.com/article/butt...

I know this isn’t a big deal for a lot of people on here, but I just submitted my first piece of fiction to a magazine, and it feels fucking great. And here I thought y”all were in this for the money. #writing #amwriting #writesky

Zelda Williams (the daughter of the great Robin Williams) sure had a lot to say about the “Studio Ghibli style” AI images that have been trending recently. I think those people should read these posts and really think about what they’re doing.

As someone in the early stages of learning Greek, this reflection on language and learning hit close to home: whyisthisinteresting.substack.com/p/the-langua...

Great job, fellow Canadians. This is the closest thing to patriotism that I’ve ever felt. 🇨🇦

Thanks to some well-timed perspective and encouragement, I managed almost 4,000 words yesterday on two different WIPs, creative non-fiction and a flash science-fiction piece, both exploring themes of loneliness and isolation while being far from home. #amwriting #writesky

IF YOU FOUND YOUR NOVEL IN THE LIBGEN DATABASE, YOU MAY BE A CLASS MEMBER FOR THE KADREY ET AL V. META PLATFORMS CLASS ACTION Law firms you can contact if you're a potential class member: Joseph Saveri Law Firm, LLP (415) 500-6800 Mathew Butterick (323) 968-2632 [email protected]

8 of my academic articles are in here, but not my dissertation - so I’m still fairly confident that absolutely no one on earth has read that thing cover to cover. The only good to come of this is perhaps we’re looking at the start of a multi-billion dollar class action suit that will destroy meta

Oh yes, Homer’s famous “Tes Thdpssssps.” 👍🏻

I think my Mac mini just became sentient and has realized the futility and meaninglessness of existence.

Ah, finally getting a chance to enjoy the crystal clear water of Greece

If this isn’t happening at your local, then what are you even doing there?

It's been so long since I've been on a social media platform that isn't a complete and utter hellscape that works non-stop to steal my attention, flood my awareness with advertisements, and chip away at my sense of self-worth that I don't actually know how to engage with this space.

No one wants to work anymore.

This is the advice I needed right now.
