There is something heart-warmingly blokey 'we're going to fucking do this' about this picture. Hope it's more than vibes.

After Cameron turned Europe against us, May bungled Brexit, Johnson made Britain a laughing stock, Truss alienated global investors, and Sunak outsourced his statesman duties back to Cameron… It’s good to have a world leader in No 10 again.

Macron is the only politician who can sit next to Trump, take the piss out of him, correct him - and have Trump still like him.

Zelensky is perhaps the defining figure of our age. Brave, ingenious, pragmatic and defined by his convictions. They hate him because he kills fascists.

"It is well-known that most of the mainstream media do not approach a Labour Government in a neutral way. Some blatantly misrepresent what is happening, but more often they simply do not report activity, leaving people with a sense that the government is doing nothing."

#BoycottBrewDog has got a certain ring to it. BrewDog founder launches shadow DOGE for the UK.

Love the Britishness of 'a bit of a tosser' where it translates to 'complete fucking moronic fascist bellend'.

is it too late to enter this at the Oscars for Best Picture

BBC news coverage of UK politics. Mini-psychodramas over knotty issues and policy every time. Pulling punches to maintain access. Clicks over understanding.

Truly terrible move by BBC World Service to axe its flagship science news show #ScienceInAction, the world's best, smartest science journalism in audio for a global audience. Host @peaseroland.bsky.social is the most insightful, informed, energetic journo in the BBC Science Universe. bit.ly/3PTLg50

Tell me you've never listened to the Beatles without telling me you've ever listened to the Beatles.

An all time classic..

Astounded at this carelessness. Must have been inexperienced news editors on shift at all these papers. I am sure they will catch up tomorrow with analyses across multiple pages

I suspect this is because the “murder mystery” format as developed in Victorian fiction is an attempt to impose rational order on chaos, and so creates the illusion that someone is in control, that someone will fix this mess, even if everything except the murder mystery is batshit. It’s reassurance.

Just take a moment to imagine the reaction to Barack Obama pardoning 1,500 black people, involved in a riot, which led to five police officers dying, calling them "heroes" & "hostages".

This company likes to portray itself as akin to numerous small local brewers. It is, in fact, a giant corporation backed by a US private equity firm.

The bewildering thing about this AI copyright debate is how rigid copyright rules are in many other areas. If you’re writing a novel and you want a character to sing one line of ‘Gimme Shelter’ in the bath, you have to pay the Rolling Stones about £5000.

unironically Britain's greatest newspaper

I've never hated the Tories more in my life than I do now. Their behaviour over Musk's smears has been utterly contemptible. A mixture of unapologetic bigots and mealy mouthed cowards. The only reason not to wish for their destruction was that they were less bad than Reform but apparently not.

A less discussed aspect of normalization of the far right is the attacks on anyone using pre-normalization assessments and terminology. This has been going on for over a decade, in Europe and the U.S., where the term “far right” is being squeezed tighter and tighter until it only refers to Nazis.

What a dire bit of reporting lacking judgment, morality and fairness. Both sides bollocks.

There are a lot of things that annoy me about that fascist idiot, but one of the little ones is that he keeps saying that “grok” comes from Hitchhiker’s Guide. It comes from Stranger in a Strange Land, and has nothing to do with AI. And the AI robots in Hitchhiker’s Guide? EVERYONE HATES THEM!

Let's all show our support to @jessphillipsmp.bsky.social #fuckelonmusk

Calling Sadiq Khan's knighthood a "reward for failure" is a bit rich from the party that knighted Gavin Williamson and gave Chris Grayling a peerage.

Cycling through France this summer I diverted the team to Carnac & we saw more stones in one day than I’d seen in the previous decade #StandingStoneSunday. Many more pics on @megalithic.bsky.social here www.megalithic.co.uk/article.php?...

🎶 O Little Town of Bentham 🎶

Time for this, I think:

Ebeneezer Scrooge. Arthur Dent. Jeff Lebowksi. Kevin from Time Bandits. Here’s to the heroes in dressing gowns who find themselves unexpectedly in a genre story.

A must do.

The Solstice is here, and in northern latitudes the shortest, darkest day. So much darkness in the world too and here our eldest cat is slipping away. It's the a day to light a fire or candle in defiance and focus on what grows, nurtures and cares. 🔆
