Screenwriting, ballad-singing, parentating - beaganín Ghaeilge is dócha. If there's no good story to be told, make one up.

What’s really scary is if you jumped in a Time Machine and saw that old man again, you’d probably find he was in his forties 😵💫

Asians and Middle Eastern chefs have laboured for centuries to achieve this taste. It is a badge of honour and an international treasure. Unless of course it’s actually wasps.

Beautiful! They school us every day if we’re ready to learn.

Time perhaps for another Apollo
House initiative. Although the bstrds will certainly violently evict, insisting there's a boom in rentable garden shed construction imminent guaranteed to make their homelessness inconvenience go away.

And once again, his accusation is an admission. Dumb politicians can only think of one insult for other politicians - they're really that dumb.

The old Dublin Jewish cemetery in Ballybough has a similar odd date on a stone above the gatehouse door. Apparently 'The year 5618 refers to the Hebrew calendar' - maybe the Swiss had a different calendar too?

I think this was a role traditionally filled by Bali for many years. The strict 12 hrs daylight 12 hrs pitch dark all year is hard to get used to for us northerners though. Menorca?

I wouldn’t be surprised if the root of the whole thing is the AC using cut-price contractors because of the arts attitude of ‘ah we don’t want to be pushing our luck, we can do it with less. If we ask for too much we’ll get nuttin’. Pratchett’s cheap shoes theory.

Hmmmm - I would contend that he found a new voice in collaboration with Kathleen with SFT, and evolved it through my four picks, but we hear what we hear... I adore his early stuff as writing, but he seems to me to be trying too hard to be Sinatra's dipso alter-ego.

My bonus is getting to spend lots of quality time with my partner and kids, and not having to deal with some artshole less competent than me telling me how to do what I've been doing for years. I thank you.

I did a couple of terms in that institution a quarter of a century ago. Don't let them force-feed you home-made food and French wine. It can break your creative spirit.

Saw the first screening of this in the BFI in 1979 when it ran before his 'The Tempest'. Shockingly I thought Marianne Faithfull was elderly (because I was so young), but it opened my eyes to her magnificence. And Elisabeth Welch singing Stormy Weather bookended the experience. Sublime!

The foundations for that are laid in the first part - when he claims the story he is writing is not his own but a translation of a work by an Arab writer. Frankly, it’s astounding how many novelistic devices Cervantes invented. What a book!
