God I hate Blue Labour. Reactionary poison

Bikes have overtaken cars to become the most popular vehicle in central London 🚲 Bad parking habits of Lime bikers aside (which is improving, tbf) it’s great to see so many more casual cyclists. We should invest in cycle parking to capitalise on the biking boom! www.economist.com/britain/2025...

“Low-income households in Britain are now 27 per cent poorer than their equivalents in France and a staggering 60 per cent poorer than those in Ireland.” 🔥 www.irishtimes.com/opinion/2025...

We're going to need a bigger Morgan McSweeney

OK it’s a UN office and it is called the Cuba Room, but still a surprise to a big photo of old Fidel up on the wall

A party with 400+ MPs has just surrendered to a party with five. Starmer might as well have stuck a “Vote Farage” in the window of Downing Street.

First time I’ve seen one of these on a car in the UK 👍

"Unless he turns this around, three weeks from now, you walk into a store and we're going to have a covid-like supply chain crisis, and Trump is looking for an exit" -- here's the @stephruhle.bsky.social commentary that triggered a Trump Truth Social meltdown

Column, on an EU 'reset' that has already happened and the limits on reaching the next level without telling anyone what that level is www.theguardian.com/commentisfre...

This seems like an obvious but weirdly under-appreciated point.

Labour should be looking the hardest at that Green vote and wondering why on earth in circumstances like this they couldn’t win those voters over

Well well well well well

💥London bucks national trends as cycling boom continues💥 New City of London data shows biggest increase cycling since records began: 📈cycling up 57% since 2022 🚲🚲nearly 2x more bikes than cars 📈500% increase in cycling since 1999 www.cityoflondon.gov.uk/assets/Servi...

This may be the greatest ever chart in the history of public opinion studies.

Americans! Yes, the tariffs make you look silly. Yes, we are laughing at you. Some tips on dealing with the humiliation, from Brexit Britain. We know your pain. - on.ft.com/42tt3kH

65% of Brits want these fossil fuel execs held personally responsible for the harm they cause , as per a Survation poll released yesterday by @citizensarrestnet.bsky.social . . . I’m calling on the UK Govt to reign them in and BAN fossil fuel ads – please sign my petition now govpetition.uk/700024

Absolutely batshit quote in @patrickmaguire.bsky.social must-read column on Labour’s thinking about The Current Events

I would do anything for growth (but I won't do that). Labour continues to put the party interest before the national interest.

As Silvertown Road Tunnel opens, there’s a huge opportunity for human scale movement under the Thames by repurposing the aging Rotherhithe Tunnel - originally designed for people and horses. A chance for people to walk, wheel and cycle across the river? And no need for lifts that only breakdown!

An incredibly middle class London problem but does anyone else have parakeets plucking all the blossoms off fruit trees? I suspect it is what is causing my plums to shrivel (🫣)

Or stop freezing fuel duty

Over on X-Twitter, a number of accounts including Russell Brand fell for a hoax page from the JFK Files which identified Penelope Keith as the shooter in 1963. Far too many people have taken this seriously.

I’m screening job applications this week and over 60% have near-identical ChatGPT-written cover letters. I get why people do it but it does mean anyone who writes something original immediately stands out.

Some in Labour HQ may want to reflect on this - here’s a policy which has drastically improved air quality, benefitting the poorest citizens. But Starmer’s LOTO started criticising it because a couple of Clarkson bigmouths complained in focus groups & they (wrongly imho) blamed it for Uxbridge loss

What an incredibly unsettling slogan.

This helps. And I bet you it really upsets them. youtu.be/CUpOMSJ1MdU?...

The UK’s aid programme was the best in world and saved millions from poverty and hunger. To see it gutted like this by the Tories and Labour is depressing. Well done Anneliese Dodds for making a stand.

As I noted in my recent post on "Blue Labour" we here an awful lot more about young men voting Reform here than the considerably larger % of young women who voted Green.
