I would do anything for growth (but I won't do that).
Labour continues to put the party interest before the national interest.

Sadly, pro-Brexit Blue Labour is currently running the show in No 10 and 11, no matter what the country needs. The Blue Labour executive wants to retain the Northern and Midland voters prised away from the Tories and Reform in 2024 with a pro-Brexit message.
However, with Trump’s US nationalism, the UK is terribly exposed to tariffs.

The crass naivety of the national isolation Blue Labour craves is apparent. I agree with levelling up, but not the removal of EU economic protection!

‘No, not that far…slow down’
Brexit was, and continues to be, a catastrophic failure.
Time to move on.
Alistair Campbell thinks he'll eventually be forced back by circumstances; like Wilson was eventually forced to devalue the pound. I pray he's correct.
Time to let Labour know exactly what we feel about them wouldn’t you say ?
I’m not a Lib Dem party member but will support them on this issue at least.
…oh, wait 🙄
I fear the US have told the UK to steer clear "or else" and the brexit benefit is in the US court.
Imagine you're the PM.
Take me through day one of this plan.
You've got Ursula on the phone listing the prerequisites. Which concession do you want to gift to Reform first?
These people rather wrecked theor own party's chances of winning two (!) GE's rather than let Corbyn become PM.
I don't know how much more narcissistic and selfish you can be.
Just cos it’s not your Labour doesn’t mean principles of improving workers rights/ conditions, nationalisation of utilities (if financially viable),improving NHS and adhering to the free at point of contact not good enough?
And are you saying that none of those things can happen in the EU? They're certainly not happening outside it, are they?
Revisit that 70%. Most want realignment but NOT FOM
Or that Rejoining, would take 5-10 years given the bureaucratic nightmare that would arise and the Sh1t storm that a full funded r/w campaign would throw at them …
What would your response be ?
Trying to keep afloat in 2025 is the main aim of any Government and exploiting Brexit is an advantage. Rejoining the EU with double the tariffs is not a vote winner. Better trade agreements with the EU are.
The country should be able to do what’s right, not pander to a group of narrow minded twats
And it can’t be allowed to harm the majority. Eg: if a party is elected on a platform of destroying the environment, they should not be allowed to. No easy solutions of course but it’s a mess right now
So they predicted the tarrifs months before we knew about them?!
Bollox!
Scotland must really leave. When we do, we'll pull you up with us.
He already made his choice and that is not the EU, his nearest neighbour.
Keir Starmer fell for Agent Nigel's snake oil poison.
See any difference between Labour, Tories & Reform UK?
I don't, do YOU?
Keir Starmer fell for Agent Nigel's snake oil.
https://www.politico.eu/article/uk-poll-vote-rejoin-eu-brexit-new-referendum-pm-keir-starmer/
Works both ways - EU needs to know UK public support this & are committed to this long path back. Figures around the 50/60% mark aren't enough.
We are currently in the middle of renegotiating deals with the EU that will see improvements.
Maybe give this summary of the situation that Parliament (i.e. not the government) have put together that gives an update on what has been done since Labour came to power, what is being done now etc.
There is a big meeting to be held soon between the UK & EU.
It's not like it's all up to us...
I’m fed up of people who *thought* Lab would rejoin immediately, on election, saying they are now disappointed 🤦♂️
There’s other groups who see Lab as a soft target eg the unelectable left, the indies, & those who never would vote Lab (in reality)
Love or loathe - Starmer’s not stupid
Labs stance is tripping up the r/w vote, whipping up demand for Rejoin and allowing time for meaningful talks
However, I’d like to hear some ‘words of comfort’ in the meantime too ..
The customs union is not really an option, but that doesn't mean other customs arrangements or reducing trade barriers cannot be done.
I'm surprised to read today this is actually the Lib Dem view too.
We already are talking about trade.
The summit between the UK and EU next month could potentially show us if anything has been agreed upon so far.
I believe even the Lib Dems are not calling for us to rejoin THE Customs Union.
It would be unprecedented and something which Labour have ruled out.
But that doesn't mean we cannot have a much better customs arrangement.
Labour have said they are open to joining PEM which would see an improvement, but we could also see renegotiation of an improved bespoke customs agreement too.
And those talks are already happening for closer cooperation on security, defence & trade.
Realistically, #RejoinEU will only happen with a second term Labour Govt so your attack undermines the chances of success to #RejoinEU.
🌹🇬🇧🇪🇺⚘️
They won on a protest vote and are squandering it. Labour is gone, they're Reform Lite now. They don't deserve a second or any other term.
It's nothing to do with what a bunch of UK politicians deserve. It's to do with what the European member Governments will accept.
⚘️
As long as Labour chases Reform voters and imposes Trumpist policies this country deserves better than a second term of the current government.
Corrupt Labour keeps making 2 year old toddler fake excuses to not rejoin EU.
The only chance is via a Labour or Lab/LibDem Government.
So undermining that possibility is to undermine #RejoinEU .
Labour are no longer Labour.
That party is gone. They are right wing now. They will not rejoin the EU. They are Brexiters and keep saying so themselves. Overtly and repeatedly.
Start listening to them, not imagining them as they once were.
A braver government would face down this vocal minority (and minority it surely is) and take the difficult decisions.
"Not going backwards when it comes to #Brexshit"
Already way past pre-1972 and going in the wrong direction fast
#DiaperDon tariffs will hurt the car industry and what remains of high value engineering
Look to the place where 46% of trade goes!!
#ClownsIdiots
#AreYouYesYet
It's a pity we don't live in a democracy.
Open talks to join the SM and CU.
Huge awareness campaign about how Farage and the Tories deliberately hurt the country and communities with their Brexit.
List the things that they stole from people as a result, like money, FoM etc.
Ignore the creeps who’ll scream about it
Fuck right off, labour.
I wish I'd thought of it!
How narrow-minded.
We are already going backwards. Brexit has done nothing but take us backwards for years now. We need to go forward and as quickly as possible.
Wake up and put your country before politics.
Thing is, I don't even see how it's in the party's interest to cling on to an outdated, discredited narrative. Labour's strategic direction seems woefully naive right now.
For the moment the uk tarrifs are less than eu but that could change.
No starmer fan but hanging back for now is better. Get an eu Canada deal signed up not just an eu one.
That RW Tory initiative that Sunak believed needed U S type freedom to succeed .
Would account for the proliferation of warehousing
What person with a conscience could vote 4 them?
It was traumatising just to watch
Reform R regarded as saviours.
One tries gentle persuasion but w. every act to capture Reform vote it seems to drive them further to the right.
Labour's only saviour
IMHO wld be a return 2 TU movement.
Educate in the workplace.
Labour do deserve the kicking they’ll get next GE though
It is Labour party policy so #SirKidStarver will undoubtedly ignore it.
To the county's cost.
Reform will be a disaster of course, but they rely on stupid people, and there are plenty of them about - 14 years of people repeatedly voting Tories comes to mind
Terrifying!
Do you mean TU? Or CU? 😊
Moving right just makes it look like the fascists are normal and mainstream.
Trouble is Labour now can't stand on the antiF platform.
Hence via the TU movement.
Which Labour can and should support...
I know that’s unfair but nevertheless is that not the case?
As for England- we MUST NOT have Reform! Ever ever ever!!
Labour must move back left! Where it’s supposed to f***ing we’ll be!!!!
https://bsky.app/profile/politics.co.uk/post/3lmbxumefbs2k
2/3rds of UK people want to rejoin the EU Market.
Most businesses, most school & Uni students, most Trades.
"Stronger Together!" is IMPORTANT!
Especially when USA goes ROGUE!
The country can’t survive if its entire political direction is based on serving people with a fetish for flags and petty nationalism
We don't want it!!!!
He's a signed up hard brexiteer who believes his economy can be built on war expansion and corporate zones of tax free, deregulated, reheated failure of Thatcherism.

Northern Ireland is in the Customs Union
They both export to Countries around the World
What is the Problem ?
If they put a US deal & Trump's dislike of the EU 1st then they're choosing client state not equal partner.
#DumpTrump Exit #Brexit.
All this leading from behind is rather pathetic though…!
*Except on sewage dumping where we are worse.
To align Labour with Reform is lazy imho
It’s astonishing how many disgruntled boomers who are (imho rightfully) maddened by Brexit who are whinging during exceptional geoeconomic conditions
This hatred of Labour for not fixing 14 years of Tory corruption and not waltzing back into the EU like nothing happened, in 9 months” will gift the Tories power for another decade. And cement Brexit permanently.
So,I'll say this as a voter who tactically voted last GE for @teamlabouruk.bsky.social,next time it will be a tactical vote for @libdems.org.uk or Greens to keep Tories, Reform AND Labour OUT!
https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/700041
No matter, someone will coin a socially accepted palatable phrase engaging a novel idea to (somehow) inspire our continent toward a more sheltered protected kinder less volatile & more lucrative demeanor
Only a matter of time really
#Wewantourcontinentback
Such firmness of purpose is unbecoming when deployed against imperatives of common sense and ethics.
Trickle-down economics is a failure.
The Special Relationship never existed.
How long are we going to cling to these sunk cost fallacies & actually make changes that benefit Britain.
Brexit only won by less than 2%. No way is it more popular after we all got screwed by it.
Yet Trump that Labour are so keen (and failing) to keep sweet is destroying this stability.
They will argue "hey, we're taxed less than the EU"
(but same for cars, oops)
Unwillingness to tax the wealth of the rich
Unwillingness to stop corporate takeover of the UK by Freeports and SEZs
Especially the latter is incompatible with the EU.
However, direct wealth taxes have been dropped by almost every country that has tried them.
Indirect wealth taxes, like Land Value Tax, certainly work and are impossible to avoid.
Have a look at:
https://landvaluetax.co.uk/about-lvt/wealth
The postwar Europe and N America thrived on the taxes on the rich, but eventually the rich regrouped and started propaganda on wealth taxes that appealed to the middle class.
What the fuck is wrong with Labour? Are they allergic to success?
You don’t look like an adolescent in your picture but some ppl remain eternally young don’t they?
Ps Starmer’s exact words “we want closer relations with the EU”
If the LibDems and Greens increase their vote at the next GE at the expense of Labour, it'll be all they deserve.
And using Reform as a reason to vote Labour smacks of desperation.
Why is he rabbiting on about a trade deal with the US and/or with India? Why is he STILL hesitating?
The greens? The libdems?
I know it’s Lib Dems in my constituency
It's nowhere near good enough that Labour allow the interests of a few red wall racists to dominate any progress in the UK.
Please can someone wake them up!
I just don't think he has the imagination, charisma or leadership skills to take us forward.
Politics has been stunted ever since.
Johnson is the enabler for the racist lot as was Cameron bowing to pressure from ukip and the fear of losing to them in an election.
That would never be a thing the racists have no policies to offer the population past deportation.
McSweeney needs to go.
Maybe then Starmer could actually do the right thing?
https://ukandeu.ac.uk/explainers/explainer-customs-unions/
He might have been an excellent human rights lawyer but as leader of the country he's worse than useless.
McSweeney seems more interested in the next election than in what's best for the UK.
So he continues to pander to the red wall and RW press.
Labour are loyalist royalist, anti-indy, anti-EU, anti-PropRep, pro-Lords. The exact opposite of the SNP.
Let alone the £3M, 3 year debacle trying to get Sturgeon only for her not even to be charged, that takes away any anti-SNP smear option.
The right wing still have popular support, (in spite of Starmer's efforts).
