Their name? George … George Glass

Bonds down, stocks down, dollar down.... the winning doesn't stop

I’ve seen so many different versions of this, but I like this one best. This is exactly what Trump is doing, over and over and his mob of morons keeps screaming “Art of the deal!!!” every damn time.

First JPMorgan, now MetLife keeps its 60% recession call — titling today’s note “Damaged Goods”: “Even if there is a near-term resolution of the tariff and other trade issues, damage has been done to the economy and to consumer expectations.”

Stocks and bonds both under a lot of pressure even after benign CPI/jobless claims data.

This is driving me crazy too. Not long ago 10% universal tariffs were considered the worst-case scenario, something even Trump wasn’t crazy enough to impose. Now have those PLUS 125% tariffs on China. Together, these raise raise inflation by about as much as original “Liberation Day” tariffs did!

Markets woke up and realized that a 10% global tariff and 125% tariff on China is still going to devastate America’s economy.

You wouldn't know these countries. They all live in Canada.

BREAKING: Federal judge in New York issues a temporary restraining order (and certifies a limited class) barring the Trump administration from removing anyone in the Southern District of New York from the U.S. under Trump's Alien Enemies Act proclamation or transferring them out of S.D.N.Y.

I DIDN'T HAVE THE CARDS.

I don't think people realize that in important respects tariffs are now higher & more inflationary than what was announced on last Wednesday. Since then we've gone from 54% to 125% on China, our 3rd largest trading partner. That outweighs delaying the increases on 70+ others.

Per CNBC: White House is now saying EU will not be punished for their retaliation because it hadn't gone into effect yet. So they only get the 10% baseline tariff. That excuse just tells you in black and white how much they've contorted themselves in order to back the fuck off this poor strategy.

boosting because good and we need more good

UPDATED REPORT: Multiple federal judges temporarily halt Trump's Alien Enemies Act removals. The ACLU filed cases in New York and Texas challenging the administration's use of the wartime power for deportations. Judges responded quickly. Now at Law Dork: www.lawdork.com/p/aclu-bring...

Good morning. Today is the 80th day that the U.S. President is running a backdoor bribery scheme in which any CEO or foreign oligarch can send him money secretly through his crypto coin scam in exchange for favors. It's the biggest scandal in the history of the Presidency.

Trump has experienced a 34% drop in support from voters under 30 since the beginning of his term, from +5 to -29. Astonishing.

Shorter Bessent on bond market:

seems like someone might be panican

This all points to confidence in US treasury bonds rapidly degrading, and the consequences of that go well beyond a simple recession. The US bond market imploding would make 2008 look like child's play.

“.. Bond Vigilantes are signaling that the Trump administration may be playing with liquid nitro. Something may be about to blow up in the capital markets as a result of the .. trade war. If so, then the S&P 500 will fall into a bear market for sure.” - @yardeniresearch.bsky.social

ELECTION RESULT: A team of city council members in Rolla, Missouri, have been pushing anti-LGTB policies, including a ban on drag shows and book censorship. Voters just ousted all three of these city councilors who were running for reelection, backing candidates backed by a local LGBT group.

Ghouls.

The Trump admin must produce evidence justifying Columbia student Mahmoud Khalil's deportation by tomorrow afternoon, or he may be ordered released on Friday, an immigration judge said — per @theguardian.com h/t @reichlinmelnick.bsky.social‬

ICE isn't "deporting" immigrants, it is kidnapping them. DOGE isn't "fixing" the government, it is dismantling it. Trump isn't "helping" Americans, he is retaliating against them. Pam Bondi isn't "upholding" the Constitution, she is ignoring it.

These people are ghouls.

“McDonalds workers in Denmark make more than Honda workers in Alabama” is such a key point. It’s the institutions, stupid.

Like a three-fold win here =>

Men assess their own capacity to work a factory job with the same accuracy that they assess their chance of beating Serena Williams at tennis.

New — ICE will release the mother and children they shackled and unlawfully abducted from Sackets Harbor, NY in late March after relentless pressure from the town. I write how the incredible outcome of this horrifying story should give fuel us to fight back: www.thehandbasket.co/p/sackets-ha...

I'm glad to know this exists.

Just got a note from one of my (many) Alma Maters ASU - they are doubling down on inclusivity in order to tackle the urgent global problems we're facing - climate, social justice, health outcomes - to be of greater service and of greater value to democracy. Nice to hear it.
