GET HIM OUT OF OUR POLITICS!

So, the WH Deputy Chief of Staff says they're looking at suspending habeas and the mayor of a major city is arrested for seeking further information about possible ICE abuses in his city. In the past hour or two. We're already a police state but are teetering at the edge of something worse.

I didn’t give a wit about new pope coverage, but the first American pope being a man with Black ancestry born in Chicago by way of New Orleans by way of Haiti. Names his self after the pope who condemned slavery? In the Trump era? Oh, baebae, I am HERE for it. www.wwltv.com/article/news...

What historic deal is Keir Starmer talking about? Y'all negotiated from 10% to 10% and you think this is historic? And it's tentative! While Trump supporters are the dumbest motherfuckers on the planet, it hard for me to believe Brits are going to swallow the conman's vomit. 😂🤣

Robert Francis Prevost, who was elected the 267th pope of the Roman Catholic Church today and took the name Pope Leo XIV, is the first pope from the United States. A member of the Order of St. Augustine, he resembles the late Pope Francis in his commitment to the poor and migrants.

Cardinal Robert Francis Prevost, a native of Chicago who is now the first American-born pope, has spent most of his career outside of the U.S, ministering to the dispossessed and marginalized. The “Latin Yankee,” as he is known in Rome, worked 20 years in Peru.

White smoke was sent up by the conclave and history has been made, as Robert Francis Prevost, an American, has been named as the 267th pope. Prevost, 69, is the first ever pope from the United States. He will be known as Leo XIV.

What to watch for w/trade deal: a.) Is there really a deal? Or is it top line w/details unresolved. b.) Is deal consequential? (It really can't be w/the UK.) c.) Will Congress approve it? (The president has no power to approve such deals.) d.) Will deal achieve any of Trump's goals behind tariffs?

fight back, ohio. step 1: overturn hb6.

"On Tyranny" is a #1 NYT bestseller again. I wish the moment were different. But I’m glad the book is useful. And grateful for all the kind words about putting the 20 lessons to work. snyder.substack.com/p/twenty-les...

Duckworth on if she's open to voting to confirm Mike Waltz: "I think everybody on that Signal chain needs to be fired ... he's failing up ... I'm not open to voting for him, no, because he's already demonstrated he's incapable of doing the most basic thing, which is handling classified information."

To all those who said boycotting Target was a waste of time. It wasn't. Keep it up, y'all!

Trumpty-Dumpty is defunding PBS. What he calls "bias" some of us call "facts Trumpty-Dumpty doesn't like."

This isn't hypothetical. The coming days are bringing higher prices and disrupted supply chains, this time not because of a pandemic or a war, but self-inflicted by our country's government under this president.

Dr. Anthony Fauci urges Americans not to accept "Normalization of Untruths".

After decades of research on stem cells and their reprogramming, we're now seeing extensive clinical trial assessment, some with very encouraging results. This is a new @science.org outstanding review of the biology and ongoing research efforts www.science.org/doi/10.1126/...

Listening to the president this afternoon if it weren't for lies and things he just doesn't understand he would be mute.

I love John Oliver, and I loved Sunday's episode, but one nitpick: It grated on me badly when Oliver referred to David Geier as a "vaccine skeptic." Geier is not a skeptic. He is a longtime antivax activist and producer of bad science and pseudoscience regarding vaccines and autism.

Trump’s first 100 days: * performative illegal EOs * melting down the US government, US standing in the world, science, and the economy * deporting US citizen children with cancer, among others * losing and losing and losing in court * triggering a huge domestic and global political backlash

Most satisfying day of 2025 so far. www.ft.com/content/5f9a...

Pritzker: As a Ukrainian American Jew who built a holocaust museum… let me say this to Donald Trump: Stop tearing down the constitution in the name of my ancestors. Do not claim that your authoritarian power grabs are about combatting anti-semitism.

An air-traffic technology outage led to significant delays at a New York City-area airport Monday and snarled flights around the country

Horrible tragedy #RIP

We will remember forever the service and sacrifice of Graham Hoffman of the Kansas City Fire Department. Our condolences to his family, all at KCFD, and all in our community.

The number of ships sailing from China to the U.S. laden with clothes, electronics, furniture and other goods is plunging, as an accelerating number of cargoes are canceled / so bluffing on trade policy doesn’t work b/c who has what “cards” is pretty transparent to those paying attention….

Pope’s funeral a diplomatic minefield as Trump sets fire to US alliances

Virginia Giuffre, one of the most prominent Epstein victims who also alleged she was sexually trafficked to Prince Andrew, has died. She was 41. Her family on Saturday issued a statement confirming she took her own life at her farm in Western Australia, where she had lived for several years.

Virginia Giuffre survived Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking network, fought for justice, and became a voice for so many. Today, that light is gone. The toll of abuse never truly ends, even when the headlines do. Honor her by fighting for those still unheard. Rest in power, Virginia.

If we’re serious about more efficient government and better everyday life in America - which we all should be - that means actually improving government, not cutting health care for poor people and slashing support for veterans.

I'm not sure if every single one of NYC's 8.2 million residents would make a better mayor than either Eric Adams or Andrew Cuomo. But I bet half of them would. Which is to say if there were a ballot with ranked choice voting for candidates 1 to 4 million, I'd still leave both of them off my ballot.

I'm Kat Abughazaleh and I'm running for Congress.
