UPDATE: David Huerta was just released from custody!

And now Marines are on the ground in LA, not just the Guard.

Donald Trump's Los Angeles power grab is meant to stoke fear and signal very clearly that this administration will go to any lengths to intimidate and divide. I fully condemn the moves by the Trump administration to use military force to subject their dangerous agenda of fear and...

I can't wear stuff like this but it's so pretty! (Really short neck and low ears)

Oh yummy yummy, someone should buy this and give it a good home!

Hello friends! I'm getting ready to upload some new things onto the shop but that means moving some old things (and by that I mean... last week in some cases) so the entire store is 15% off! LGBTQIA+ staffed/owned, free US shipping over $50, 11 artisans! www.peculiarityshop.com

Walking along a street yesterday, two well-dressed white women (late 30s?) approached to ask directions to the subway. I was flabbergasted. One had her phone in her hand. Both looked a bit frazzled.

HEY, A SALE. A SALE.

“As much as I love this city, there’s a myth about it that has persisted for too long. It’s the lie that life has to be hard in New York. It has to be an ordeal. That only the rich or the lucky get to live a good life here.  I don’t believe that for a minute.”

As someone with a complicated relationship with her mother (90+ & currently in rehab), the end of this hits really hard.

The fact they chose California as the flash point is also an indicator that they don't think these things through LA has like 4M+ people. Sending every single ICE officer is ~20K, LAPD is 9K, LASD is 10K. Going in at 100:1 manpower – leaving zero bodies for literally anything else – is foolish 1/

not the main issue here but i'd really appreciate it if democratic politicians spoke out in support of big-city life and culture with the same energy and reverence that all politicians have for small towns los angeles is "real america" and so are all the other big cities the president hates

People often stop me in the street (never happened) and ask: “What do people like on Bluesky?” “Mountains and flowers,” comes my reply. Mt. Fuji with a sprinkle of flowers for #stunday. ❤️ ✌🏽 #photography #nature #art #eastcoastkin #stormhour #photohour #fuji #japan #flowers #bloomscrolling #scape

Every person on Bluesky should know: * Every post on Bluesky is PUBLIC forever * Every post on Bluesky is archived by ICE, NSA, and many other agencies * Even if you delete a post, it’s already been captured * Judges don’t care if you were “kidding” or being ironic www.404media.co/the-200-site...

“A 2010 study that analyzed 40 years of protest coverage in five major newspapers, including The New York Times and The Washington Post, found that the papers depicted protests — even peaceful ones — as nuisances rather than as necessary functions of democracy.”

PASS IT ON: If you are National Guard or Active Duty military and you are being ordered to violate the constitutional rights of US citizens then this is the number to the GI Rights Hotline. There is support. You don’t have to go through with it. 877-447-4487

some folks have been there for *hours* today but don't want to leave because they're worried about numbers. gotta play the long game, swap out, relieve comrades who have been soaked in the rain. get there if you can

One thing I’d say about ranked choice voting in NYC is that you don’t have to do complex calculations of viability. You should rank in order of *who you want to be mayor* and if you *don’t* want someone to be mayor, you shouldn’t rank them!
