to my utter surprise--I hadn't looked bc I knew I wouldn't be able to go--there is a No Kings rally/march in my neighborhood. it's slightly off the route I take when visiting mom in rehab, but if I get my ass in gear, I should be able to stop by for a little while.

Referring to events in Ballymena as "disturbances" is a euphemism too far. We are witnesses to a pogrom. And it behoves us to say so, loud and clear. www.irishexaminer.com/lifestyle-co...

Back during the first term, I went to several "first protests" with people. One was a Muslim at a protest opposing the Muslim ban. She was startled to see the large number of people who turned out--and it wasn't all that big a protest. She had never in her life felt so seen and supported, she said.

These are my top two. Blake and Myrie are next for me, in some order. Not sure of #5.

Sitting down makes you more vulnerable to tear gas, to being trampled or run over, and more.

Just slapped an e-hold on @wiswell.bsky.social's new book. Library says 10 week wait. Other library has @older.bsky.social's new book but I can only have 3 e-holds there and I'm full up. Sigh. My own fault. So much good stuff to read! Wait is 9 weeks currently. *practices patience*

bad cops cost NYC taxpayers millions of dollars each year and waste years of people's time fighting lawsuits to the death.

My personal favorite: suddenly realizing I was standing next to Sam Waterston on a streetcorner near the Flatiron Building, where I was working at the time. I was so startled I nearly fell off the curb. He was just waiting to cross the street, like anyone else, and looking gorgeous.

@prisonculture.bsky.social and I have been encouraging people to read chapter six of our book, Let This Radicalize You, which deals with the question of "violence" in social movements. We have decided to share the chapter publicly, to offer some context and grounding for the current conversation.

Also, do GOP electeds realize this will happen to them too? "Opposition" is a constantly shifting goalpost.

Take a listen and seriously consider it. While this is not an uncommon practice, I am glad people are beginning to speak up about it.

So another one of these came today and I took a closer look. Some of its claims seem pretty wild. But they include citations in tiny print at the bottom, after an invitation to "check the facts." So I did. You may need to sit down for this: Andrew Cuomo is not being entirely honest!

So much this. Jewish characters shouldn't exist only to teach readers a lesson. They should exist because we are people who exist.
