Just been reading on the BBC website about someone receiving a football banning order for using that chant.

Seen them a few times as they were playing the same circuit as my band. When we had a gig at The Townhouse, we’d wander down to the Gate or the Tuns and catch a first set before our gig.

Good band Jonny Pocket 👍 One of the best around

It’s all okay. I was just driving back home and Emi crossed over the road in front of me with his kids!!! 😂 He looked fine to me. It’s as good ITK as anyone else’s and at least it’s 100% true 😂😂

👍 above any result, there is so much to still be excited about. And this season we still have dreams that could make it the best season we have seen for decades. I’ll cling to that for as long as I can!! 😂👍UTV

100% agree with that

I think the league can’t see the wood for the trees. Fans want to see goals not agonising over whether a hair is offside. It’s absolute nonsense for all sides.

It’s also the momentum thing as we haven’t won many games back to back this season and climbing the table has always been about that.

We’ll see. I think for me before anything I want to see these next 2 away games. If we win those it sets us up perfectly for the 6 pointers.
comment in response to

If we beat those clubs we won’t be on 63, we’ll be on way more as we’ll beat the others who aren’t in the mini league starting with tonight!! Brighton and Fulham will hopefully take some points from the others too.

It’s possible but 63 pts for 5th with our GD needs 3 out of City, Bmth, Che and Newc getting <19 or 20pts from 12 games. Need to see them get a few losses yet before I’ll think 63 will be enough for 5th yet. Still, it’s a long way to go and as you say a lot is in our hands by winning 6 pointers.

….. even with permutations I just don’t see Man City, Newcastle, Chelsea and Bournemouth dropping enough points to make less than 63 points good enough for us to get 6th. Starts with a win tonight and against Brentford. That will pile the pressure on to the others and then you never know.

I like Unai’s idea of just focusing on each game then worry about setting the target 5 games to go. But as a fan, looking at our goal difference, the games left and the number of teams with their noses just ahead of us I think we need more than 63 points. The equation may change quickly but….

😂 hopefully you’re right. I’m happy with 8th and a CL and FA Cup double 👍👍😂

Get to 66 points and Man C and Newcastle need 7 wins and a draw from 12 to stay ahead of us. Still a fair bit to go but I think we need to get to 66 imo to stand a chance.

Possibly but if we only got 60 points then Bth/Chel only need 5 wins and a couple of draws from 12 games to stay ahead of us, Newc Man C 5 wins and 1 draw. At the moment that seems a stretch to me to see any of them not getting that. We need a bit of good fortune I think.

I agree today especially if Rogers is out. But both Bailey and Maatsen will still have roles to play as the season develops.

Haven’t really ever looked into them in detail. It kind of feels it’s a function of budgeting on Champions League forever and then failing on the pitch. Man Utd probably needed the Super League. It’s a lesson for all clubs including us although I suspect NSWE get the picture more than the Glazers.

…. I guess he’d argue loaning Rashford is part of that but my goodness they have a lot of work to do.

Yep. On the one hand I understand his requirement to make the organisation leaner as they are losing money but I was always taught and consider now the old 80/20 rule for these things where you focus on the 20% of things that make up 80% of your cost base……

Sadly it is the nature of football. No one wants to face up to the main issue at the top end which is transfer fees and player wages. How on earth as a human you sit there on £300k a week whilst the people working to support you have these things removed or are made redundant is ridiculous.

#avfc so potentially in 4 weeks time we could be right in the mix for Europe, a QF in the Champions League and in the SFs of the FA Cup. March is a massive month for us!!! UTV

Disagree. Whilst I agree it is whack-a-mole, that particular mole is a huge behemoth and dwarfs the other minor displays of wealth and triggers for one-up-man-ship imo. Agree we do need to foster a culture where clothes aren’t perceived that way but I think sadly for the moment that is unrealistic.

😂 nor me and I fully recognise I’m probably considered old fashioned. I used to be suit and tie every single day but I just wear shirt and trousers now and just go for tie and jacket when seeing customers. Lots don’t even do that anymore which feels odd to me.

If your career path means you go for a trade or a more practical job then I don’t think it’s an issue once you go to college. But at least you still have the experience if your career ever takes you in a different direction.

No problem with Primary School but once you go to secondary school you’re being prepared for potentially a career in a profession where it’s important to give out a level of formality in business. That’s a much higher % than you suggest.

I’m a bit old fashioned on this and I know even my wife who is a few years younger than me doesn’t agree. Personally I think it should be part of your education to dress formally regularly. I still wear a tie for work when seeing a customer and I think it’s just part of life’s preparation.

100% agree. Helps stop the “who has got best/most expensive trainers” brigade. There’s an important levelling purpose to school uniforms.

I try to use it as an educational point with my kids that swearing is very situational and audience based! And sometimes in life you have to deal with morons who don’t get the finer points of using vulgarities 😂😂

I don’t mind about bad language itself. If it’s delivered with biting, sardonic humour then it’s can be really funny to me. I also get the emotional outburst thing but it’s when it’s constantly repeated with nothing else it just marks the person out as a dullard!!

I love clever and witty heckling from fans. Problem is you always get a moron who thinks clever and witty is just repeatedly calling somebody a c*nt. Some people are just brain dead.

The decision may even be to be open to offers for Maatsen and keep Digne and sign a younger, cheaper LB. Unai’s not afraid of moving on players quickly if he feels it’s right. I think it’ll be really interesting in that position.
comment in response to
post
Think the thing is Emery looks for a LB that can get to the byline. Not sure that’s Digne. He is though solid defensively and delivers a great cross. It’s a large % of resources spent at LB on both players. That’s why it’s such an interesting conundrum to watch.
comment in response to

👍 Totally get it and don’t take me wrong, I like him but he is expensive when we consider these squad cost limits. Just about ok if he’s the starter but we spend a large % of our resources at LB with both him and Maatsen. Kind of feel we need to make some decisions at LB.

Only way I can see that working is with a RCB/RB more like a Disasi so we can flex to a back 3 rather than having a Cash or Garcia at RB. Obviously I’ve no doubt Unai will come up with the solutions but I think there’s a lot to think about. Or it’s a horses for courses type of plan.
