At some point in 2020, I started saying fuck it, and letting myself just get two donuts when I couldn’t choose. Maybe it’s time to bring that back.

the lesson is not that tucker carlson is good, it is that ted cruz is so bad that he forced carlson to commit an act of journalism

The second-to-last sentence is amazing. A Blogspot e-commerce empire!

They backed off because of the bombing? (Legit asking.)

Would be much more interesting if they were doing intricate dilation and curettage.

Yepppp. In fact, maybe we should revisit that whole qualified immunity situation!

I have this on a t-shirt! It’s relevant to wear every day! 🥲

But the protestors are just so … loud. And unseemly. And brown. Gosh, where are my pearls, I need something to clutch.

Huh. I’m going to consider adopting this strategy. It seems like it could actually expose multiple people to legit important things. Too bad it means engaging with Zuckerbergia.

More like failed state capacity, ‘ey-oh!

And the higher cost of labor!

What?
comment in response to post
Well, I’m gonna direct my anger towards the people at the top of the system, not the bottom. And if we’re calling out bad arguments, none of these people (most of whom are brown, as @bk-2000 pointed out) intentionally “signed up to shoot civilians.” It’s not like they’re police. Have a good one.

For a lot of people who grew up poor, the military is one of few available routes to a college degree. I’m all for tearing down the military industrial complex, but I’ve never been in their shoes, so I figure I probably shouldn’t vilify less fortunate ppl trying to make the most of a rotten system.

I DID THIS TOO. Superb analogy.

But the only people who'd get screwed by that are the National Guards being forced to deploy and forced to pay for their own housing, no? Better to stick it to ICE and the Feds, which that... wouldn't.

So wait, he said it was a lie and he also implies he voted for it and says he wants it to happen? WHO LETS THESE PEOPLE TYPE.

I agree wholeheartedly. I think schools should have stayed closed longer and reopened with more precautions. But there’s no need to be so nasty and dismissive of parents who were put in a literally impossible position by a broken, greed-motivated system.
comment in response to post
OR MAYBE the problem isn’t parents being “inconvenienced” by being asked to literally do two full time things simultaneously, it’s the fact that they were expected to go on working at the same level despite the shutdown of the parts of society that allow people to work— like education and childcare.

Siiiiiigh.

Teachers DIED! Lots of them. But that’s never mentioned.

What happened?

Does this mean they have to pay for their own housing?!

The mustachioed dude leaning on a jeep and tapping his foot is already fully over this.

And LAPD and LACSD have both just said they won’t help.

Doesn’t seem like he’s helping kids be able to play safely outside, what with all the free floating tear gas.
comment in response to post
I’ve also had this thought, but: -That’s exactly what people were doing & they were teargassed. -Martial law feels pretty inevitable, imo. -MLK’s Letter from a Birmingham Jail has a lot to say about ppl like me dictating how forcefully others should fight for their rights, so… idk.

Sorry, I meant what you said about yesterday: the 3 protestors run over, 1 dead? (I did see footage from yesterday of one guy hit, awful.)

Do you have a link for this? I’d like to share it.

Haven't found confirmation whether these were ICE agents, but if so, I'm feeling awfully inspired by yesterday's video of a San Diego neighborhood shouting "shame" at a group of them 'til they ran away. (Dunno if I'd be brave enough, tbh. But I want to be.)

They’d reported the long running arson threats to the police and absolutely nothing was done.

I feel sick with dread over this. How is it being allowed?! Uggh.

Plan to channel the vibe of Demi Adejuyigbe leading a 6 hour dance party at a gas station when the 2020 election was called.

It was while volunteering at the library in 12th grade that I discovered with great astonishment that Walt Whitman was gay. (I went to a Christian high school.) And now I read queer lit all the time! Is fact A related to fact B? Who cares!
