From today's "Palestine Action" protest in central #London.

Chaotic scenes this morning as 27-year-old Liam Óg Ó hAnnaidh (Liam O'Hanna) better known as Mo Chara - part of Irish group Kneecap - leaves Westminster Magistrates Court to massive cheers from his friends and supporters. He is next due in court on August 20th.

Some of my footage from the Grenfell Silent March, held on the eighth anniversary of the disaster that claimed 72 lives, 18 of whom were children, has been featured in this Channel 4 News report. On new ONS figures on earnings and employment, Unite chief Sharon Graham: “As real wages slow again, we have to remember that growth & profits don’t always equal jobs and wages. This country needs a joined-up industrial strategy and ambitious public investment to escape the cost of living crisis”

Did a double take in Northampton today… Sophie, Duchess of Edinburgh turned up in the Market Square. Greeted by a sea of schoolchildren waving Union Jacks, according to the Royal Diary she’s spending the day visiting several local initiatives in and around the town.

After Prince Harry and Meghan, Duchess of Sussex made the shock announcement five years ago that they intended to step back as full-time working royals, the rest of the House of Windsor was left scrambling.

Today I will be mostly filming a promotional music video. With a drag queen. On a train.

In electing a serious and fearless progressive, the College of Cardinals looks like pretty much the only electorate in the world that hasn't had its brains boiled by far right propaganda & toxic social media. For a Catholic of my generation, this is an almost unbelievable development.

The @nujofficial.bsky.social Code of Conduct is built on the tenets of truth, fairness, independence, privacy and accountability. These are the 5 pillars that should uphold #journalism in all of its many forms. But how do major social media platforms measure up against these standards? 🤔

On a moderately fast train to the @nujofficial.bsky.social Delegate Meeting in Blackpool, the Atlantic City of the UK.

Nothing like the peace of working a short staffed bank holiday in a newsroom....what could possibly happen.

Thousands gathered in central #London today to protest against a Supreme Court ruling about the legal definition of the word "woman." The court ruled that under the Equality Act, “woman” and “sex” mean someone who is biologically female - even if a #trans woman has a gender recognition certificate.

The furore around the Met Counter Terrorism staff Easter egg hunt is interesting. Now, as I’ve said to people I’ve discussed it with, I can see why news outlets are running the story...

LOL

Walking across Pall Mall I'm approached by a Sudanese protester close to the UK, EU and African Union 'Pathway to Peace summit. "You're press!" He then strikes up a conversation about the situation in Sudan. I wasn't even filming. I might just have a press-like glow, even on an off day.

This morning, I had a trawl through the @nujofficial.bsky.social Delegate Meeting agenda and compared it with the 2023 agenda, particularly in relation to digital skills, student members, and journalism training and education. There’s definitely a shift in union thinking taking place. It's overdue.

If I understand correctly, China may start employing penguins in order to get round tariffs.

Not my usual view of #London, but not too far from the home of TVAM... Which is an age reference of a certain vintage.

I've just finished a 30 minute exchange with the ChatGPT audio interface. So, when the machine uprising does occur at least I'll be on first name terms with our A.I. overlords.
