I reckon the theme from 'Cheers' is the pinnacle of where yacht rock was heading.

I think I saw him with Sabres of Paradise around then supporting Primal Scream in Stoke, but I saw a lot of stuff in the 90's in various states of 'enhancement'.

Far too much of it, if you ask the wife.

The Fall did a surprising number of covers over the years. 'There's a Ghost In My House' and 'Victoria' probably the most well-known, but 'Lost In Music' is fantastic.

I'll grant you, the Falklands chapter is brilliant and I really do need to read a lot more than I have on that. Happy New Year to you and your family, by the way.

Thanks for the heads-up. @michaelglasper.bsky.social is the go-to for this sort of thing (and Richard Nixon and 'Carry On At Your Convenience'), but I'd also suggest 'Promised You A Miracle' by Andy Beckett.

Same here. One of my classmates had heard the news during morning break and walked into class shouting 'Thatcher's gone'. Our normally very reserved Physics teacher replied 'Well, I'll be glad to see the back of the b***h' and spent the rest of the lesson grinning to himself.

You'll probably spend far more than that on toilet roll in a lifetime. I'll be honest, I genuinely think most of the resistance to it in the UK was the idea of being sat prone and squirting water at your bottom. We're incredibly repressed about stuff like that.

I'm intrigued as to what lies behind 'the truth' they know about toxic smog, because my early impressions of that would be its at least a bit shit, but they seem to know something different, like it has vitamin b12 in it or its good for your sinuses.
