In Austria we usually have 5 weeks of paid vacation but I'm a freelancer so I can take as man weeks as I want, but I have to finance it myself.

I know, that's why I have waived my fee for an event last year. This is also the reason I have decided not to organize another event. It's just to dangerous at the moment.

If the ticket costs several hundred and they have sponsoring it's probably not a non-profit community event. Also, if you're not sure, ask them. Whether they break even is usually not your concern as a speaker.
I've organised an event in 2019 (I know times were different then) and we charged… 1/2
