Also, I think the MH games should've kept being self-referential. GU feels so homey because I know who everyone is, am surprised by who shows up, and do quests for people just based on who's asking.

MHGU is so damn good. I'm surprised by how easy it is to do high rank village quests with good armor though, it feels like nothing's dealing damage. Hyped to go into hub and actually play oldgen MH online in a game with servers that yet live.

Monster Hunter 3U must be a masterpiece of localization, because the dialogue is leaps and bounds more charming than anything in Wilds that isn't Rove. Everything Aisha says is hilarious, and Neko is such a great idea for a character. Wonder what happened between now and then.

Every massive system change in games as of late being described as "quality of life" or "accessibility options" really annoys me. There are lots of people using the old "if you don't like *central gameplay mechanic* then don't use it." That's not a very good way to deflect criticism. Taken to its extreme, that idea would leave games to become viewed as blobs with no intentionality and wishy-washy game design. Don't like that.

I have many gripes with Wilds low rank. I cannot for the life of me figure out why they thought it was a good idea to lock everything amazing about the game to HR. Seasons? Nope. Decos? Nope. Literally any reason to go out into the world? Nope. Gotta wait till HR.
