I have been given permission to reveal the upcoming cover of Bee Speaker, book 3 of the Dogs of War series, coming this June. Mad Max futures, Martian invasions, mad lizards, fungus witches and embattled monks, none of which are quite what they seem.

I've been asked to share Lisa Jager's gorgeous cover for Canada/US. Book is out May 27th in paper, ebook, and audiobook. The cute phrase is 'Pre-orders are love' but...they are. They affect print runs, orders placed by bookstores, media. linktr.ee/GuyGavrielKay (Redone to fix linktree!)

I suspect USAID is first because it's "foreign aid" and fewer Americans will object. But once the precedent is established, expect unilateral dismantling of domestic institutions too

I am nonbinary. The gender that no longer officially exists in the United States. I was offered the chance to change my gender designation to "X" on my passport and driver's license in 2023. I decided not to and here's why.

This is not business as usual. It’s not just a change in funding priorities going forward; it is the reneging on funding agreements and is profoundly disruptive for even those grants that will be found to be compliant. Meanwhile, trainees who often live paycheck to paycheck are going unpaid.

Book pre-orders are an indication of reader interest in a title. They demonstrate to publishers and booksellers that working with the author and stocking their books is a wise choice. So, if you love an author's work, consider pre-ordering and/or asking your local library to shelve the book.

The price of eggs in the US is spiking, mostly due to #H5N1 bird flu. These executive orders on banning federally funded entities from recognizing trans people or disallowing them from using the bathroom are not self-executing or immediately enforceable. They require formal rule making at a minimum. They are a scare tactic. Ignore and do not comply in advance.

I thank President Trump for his inspiration in "doing my research" and confirming that a majority of the Gulf of Mexico coastline is indeed in Mexico.

We are beyond excited to reveal the mock ups for our special edition of Hyperion by Dan Simmons! 😍🥳

Sorry, but I really hope people who love THE WILD ROBOT movie know it was inspired by my book. It's mentioned in the credits but most people don't read that stuff. If you love the movie you should check out the book! There's more to the story and it's a quick read.

The "Strange Architect" series I'm working on = composed of four short novels: How To Be Free; Nice Is Just Another World for Terrible; Subject 682; and North Star. The basic premise is below and describes mostly How To Be Free, altho major characters show up as minor, vice versa, in the others.

Walmart’s defenders argue that the company's low prices are a boon to poor and middle-class families, Rogé Karma writes. But new research suggests that Walmart “makes the places it operates in poorer than they would be if it had never shown up at all”: theatln.tc/qiYz3E5C

"In this episode of Radio Atlantic, we make the case for reading books, one memory at a time." Hanna Rosin speaks with Rose Horowitch and other Atlantic writers about the books they read in high school that stuck with them.

It seems to me that @time-magazine.bsky.social should have picked Gisèle Pelicot as Personality of the Year.

Hey look, a festive surprise! The US publication in print of The Tapestry of Time is not until June 2025, but my US publisher is making the ebook (and, I think, the audiobook) available earlier -- it's available now to preorder for Dec. 23, just in time for Christmas Eve reading if that's your jam.
