If you believe climate change is an existential threat, then don't support any Democratic member of Congress who advocates for: 1. Generative AI 2. Cryptocurrency mining 3. Indoor cannabis cultivation unless they can immediately point to a detailed plan to make said activity carbon neutral.

Under SCOTUS's ruling in Printz v. US, forcing states and their officials—including law enforcement—to use state resources for federal law enforcement purposes is "commandeering" and a violation of the 10th Amendment. Gov. Evers is 💯% correct that lawyers should be called in on such legal issues.

ICYMI, Stephen Miller's pet project, America First Legal Foundation, is suing the Judicial Conference and Administrative Office of the US Courts, seeking to reassign the administration of federal courts to the Executive Branch. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

The media has just started to address the impact of Trump's tariffs on consumers, but what about the increased cost to state and local governments? My own AG, Dan Rayfield, laid out the immense hit on the budgets of Oregon and other states. NB: Dan was chair of Ways & Means in the OR Legislature.

So close, WSJ. You're so f*cking close to actually saying it—that he's lying or delusional—but you won't. Such cowardice, and for what?

I've said for a while that Ukraine should sign it, and then just drag their feet on following through. Trump has decimated the federal workforce—who is going to be monitoring compliance?

You can tell which lawyers spend much of their lives in Administrative Law. Similar to Jen, my very first thought was, "how is this noob going to respond to all those comments? Not with AI, for certain."

Huh. It was less than a month ago I warned about this very activity—Musk and Trump using all the data they'd pilfered during DOGE-ing for their own nefarious purposes. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/30/o...

The media uses the possibility his brain is mush to avoid calling him a liar and the fact that he’s a liar to avoid saying his brain is mush. The effect is that they write up neither of the 2 possibilities, dramatically helping Trump.

This isn't a joke; it's very dangerous. If the president truly believes that "M-S-1-3" was tattooed above the symbols on Alrego Garcia's hand, then he will believe any photoshopped image presented to him by his trusted handlers is real. Trump's cognitive decline could get any—or all—of us killed.

Sure, says SCOTUS, let's have church-run Indian boarding schools for all American kids. Turned out so well, didn't it? This isn't ancient history. Lyndon Johnson prohibited the federally-funded religious schools in 1968, so many of our elders attended.

personally, I think that if you plan to resist an authoritarian regime with guns, it’s a bad idea to talk about it a lot in the open on social media where the authoritarians can read it

In this week's ICE raid in OKC, agents got the right house, but never checked to see if those named on the warrant lived there. In today's SCOTUS oral arguments, the FBI argued that they weren't even required to ensure they got the right house: www.nytimes.com/2025/04/29/u...

20 ICE agents raid a home, find that no one listed on their warrant lives in the home, assaults and humiliates the family, steals their phones, computers, and cash, and leaves them with no contact information. So how do we help this family? (more) kfor.com/news/local/w...

Congress is back and the GOP is preparing to gut Medicaid for more billionaire tax cuts. But Speaker Johnson can only afford to lose 3 votes from his caucus, and Trump's leverage may be cratering with his polls. So why shouldn't Don Bacon start testing the fences? www.politico.com/news/2025/04...

When I worked in SpEd Law, in almost every case that went to due process opposing counsel (for school districts) sought to use the "bad faith" standard—despite our appellate (9th) very clearly applying "deliberate indifference" (as it should.) I wish I had faith that SCOTUS will get this one right.

Novavax is the only Covid vaccine that didn't cause significant side effects for me. I f*cking hate this timeline.

The author's daughter is seven; my son is 25. I could have written this, although not half as eloquently. www.nytimes.com/2025/04/25/o...

Sitting in the ER while my youngest is seen, and there are not one, but two families I have seen here before. I’ve only been in this ER twice in the past two years.

THE CIVIL RIGHTS ACT IS THE LAW OF THE LAND AND A SUPERSTATUTE AND THE PRESIDENT CANNOT UNDO IT. sincerely, a constitutional law professor who also teaches employment discrimination

At what point does someone—anyone—step in and say you can’t rescind the Civil Rights Act with an executive order? Is there a single GOP member of Congress who isn’t an invertebrate? www.whitehouse.gov/presidential...

Al gore is pissed off and I’m here for it
