Or, you could just never use 'whom', just like everyone else.

It could be a lot worse. It’s using kanji for their sounds rather than their meaning (ateji). So for Alexander 荒九三舵 would be pronounced Arekusanda, but going by the meaning of the kanji it’s gibberish (rough nine three rudder).

I only know enough Mandarin to understand 不是 but I recognise 狼 from Japanese, so I'm about 95% sure this means what everyone expects it to mean.

Being born in a country doesn't automatically grant citizenship in a lot of countries. Japan does allow people to become citizens via naturalization regardless of ethnicity, often with relaxed conditions if born in the country. www.moj.go.jp/EN/MINJI/min...

Yes. It still isn't an ethnostate.
comment in response to post
It took you half an hour to look something up on wikipedia and you still didn't get the right term? Point to where I said 'ethnocratic state'.
comment in response to post
OK so you just don't know what the term 'Ethnostate' means.
comment in response to post
Is the US an ethnostate? Ethnostate is a term that means something specific not just something you can apply to anywhere there's discrimination.

It's not though...

Nah you wouldn't get people saying that up here.

Not to the exclusion of them. In more serious discussions people would mostly say Unionist or Nationalist, but in casual conversation it's pretty common to talk about Protestant and Catholic in that way. And the H thing is more commonly said to be down to segregated schools than region.
comment in response to post
Probably more common in the North. Certainly in ways like the Frasier joke. Plenty of jokes like how you can tell if someone's Catholic or Protestant by how they pronounce the letter H.
comment in response to post
I don't know, in NI it's still pretty common for people to talk in terms of protestant and catholic communities like that.

So you really are that lazy?
comment in response to post
Yeah, so is asking people to do things you could very easily do yourself.

You know the title and the name of the youtube channel. How lazy are you? It took me seconds to find.

He's clearly slowly backing away, trying to escape. I hope he succeeds.

Do you have any comment on the rest of what they said? I have seen a number of translators express concern about ANN running an advertorial for an AI localisation company.

I'd really prefer it if Grok stuff stayed in the other place.

AI is such a self inflicted reputational injury that anytime I see anyone say "we only used it for this tiny thing" I find myself screaming "THEN WHY USE IT ALL?!". Surely these companies can see that it's going to do more harm to their image than good.

…reacting to something you don’t know about by smugly celebrating your ignorance is a truly fascinating response.

Also Oz Perkins there is Osgood Perkins, the director of Longlegs and The Monkey.

I’m shocked the DUP are trying to claim him considering he’s Catholic. Maybe they believe the jokes about him killing the pope.

...artists they don't like [get awards]* was... Sorry.
comment in response to post
This particular post is probably more directly inspired by an indie comic artist who recently made a comic about how the only reason *certain* artists they don't like was "white guilt". (The comic also complained about "calarts style")

Like the nuance that replacing a foreign name with a more familiar name kinda erases other cultures and languages?

Cool, so no one would have a problem if the dub for Jujutsu Kaisen changed these guys' names to Ewan Osborn and George Smith.

Slight mix up with the Japanese there, ニホンモモンガ is 'Nihon-momonga' (the Japanese dwarf flying squirrel). 'Ezo-momonga' is written as エゾモモンガ.

That's great. But with RFK Jr.'s ongoing dehumanisation of autistic people, I still haven't forgiven De Niro's part in legitimising his nonsense. (This was in 2017, I can't find anything from De Niro on vaccines since covid, hopefully he's changed his views) www.vox.com/2017/2/15/14...
