Seattle's public-health response to COVID-19 was well organized.. widespread vax clinics and testing equipment. Not to mention UW Medicine research that likely maybe thousands of lives. But yeah, quite a few other govt functions are either sloppy or badly under-resourced.

It wouldn't surprise me if the city winds up adding another elevator someday at high cost, much like Sound Transit is building a second elevator at SeaTac/Airport Station.

The example is right here at Alki Beach, whose two stoutly built restroom buildings are open 24/7/365, often vandalized, and quickly repaired.

Simple solution: maintain existing loos better AND build some more.

In that case why is their senator walking around in shorts 12 months a year?

As long as we're conversing, my most-logical outcome would be for DC to be the 51st state named "Washington," then we become Tahoma with the Mountain centering either an evergreen flag, or the tri-color Cascadia striped flag. Orcas are too Puget-centric for a big state.

Unpopular take - Our existing green flag is the best possible flag for Washington unless they were to change the name of the state.

Harrell praises a city program that helped a wine bar open, then jokes that "after this long-ass speech, you're all gonna want to get a drink!"

Tapping onboard the train would add dwell times and cause frequent rage when someone pauses to fumble for ORCA and tap there, while folks bunch and push around them. After a ballgame, after a concert, or any busy time of year.

Out of the entire inventory of bike facilities across the four counties, over half are rated Level of Traffic Stress 4...which is another term for "absolute garbage."

Crews took advantage of the Feb. 1-2 station closure to also adjust the overhead train-power wires on the southbound side, as shown here in this @soundtransit photo.

Portland also has a north-side corridor that's similar to Seattle's Rainier Valley segment, in a road median with frequent crossing arterials and people walking.

Portland has suffered these problems for decades, yes.

There's a lot the city could change, though it means either a multi-million $ network of gates, or blocking drivers' accustomed access for most intersections. What would you do if appointed safety czar?

Among other problems, the Duffy principle would cut out universities, community colleges, downtown business districts and stadiums, all magnets for transit riders.

If you did just high birthrate, without regard for marriage, would the trends be drastically changed?

Ammons likely holds the all-time record for questions asked of governors, so an excellent source!
