I sympathise with the feeling but don’t beat yourself up about it. He has parents who love him so he’ll turn out just fine. TV is not the worst thing for him, and if it gives you a chance to have a cup of tea and recharge your batteries then it might be good for both of you!

I guessed the ending about two thirds of the way through but that’s ok. The cast is excellent and the film draws you in. The atmosphere stays on the right side of melodrama. (Ends)

Pretty much the only female character is Isabella Rossellini as the nun in charge of catering. Her role amounts to waltzing in to accuse a cardinal of being a wrong un in front of everyone and then flouncing out again…

Go see it at @ashmoleanmuseum.bsky.social if you can. The exhibition also features the sculpture of the queen that was reproduced on UK stamps for decades.

Ooh yes, I had the Ladybird book and Top Trumps set. I almost don’t believe in dinosaurs discovered since then, it’s like they are not canonical.

How sports journalism has changed:
1970s: dad turns to the sport pages first and reads the paper from back to front.
2020s: sport pages used only to clean up after the cat because I’ve already seen better sourced and more accurate info online.
