ICE just arrested Brad Lander, the NYC Comptroller and one of the leading candidates for Mayor, without grounds. He was conducting routine immigration court work, escorting individuals from hearings. He asked ICE for their warrant - well within his legal rights. This is political intimidation.

Yes. The old bill was a shot across the bow, but this is an outright assault on our courts. Under the old bill, courts could issue injunctions, with only a nominal amount for a bond (like $1). But this would bar judges from issuing injunctions—full stop—unless parties post potentially billions.

🚨 CBS reports that Trump has signed a new travel ban, with its most harsh bans on entry targeting 12 countries, and lesser restrictions targeting 7 more. Unlike the first ban, this one is also targeted at Haiti, Cuba, and Venezuela. We’ll need to see text to know what the restrictions are.

I grew up outside of Boston. After Louise Brown (the first "test-tube baby") was born, George Annas was quoted in an article in the Boston Globe. It sparked my interest in bioethics and set me on my path to law school and my current career. This is sad news.
