Isn’t that SoftBank’s whole schtick though? Burning money on tech scams? I only hear them mentioned in contexts like this (though that could be because good investments don’t get reported on).

I’ve listened to Shaun’s video essay about her at least 3 times. She is the worst in every way.

I think it goes all the way back to the 60s and Thurgood Marshall as Chief Justice—they’ve been working to undo all of that progress ever since. Electing President Obama was what set them into overdrive.

And trad wife nonsense. And the anti vax nonsense. I blame Jordan Peterson for a lot of the rhetoric that convinced women to give up their civil rights.

If you are taking inspiration from movements *please study them.* 20th Century Civil rights organizers were very hard core about security. You should be too. Here's some very basic guidance -- I don't know who made this site, but it checks out -- infosecforactivists.org

“You can build all the dick rockets you want to go to Mars while you try to leave the rest of us on the burning Earth. We’re gonna take control. This is our world, and it’s our government, and it’s our money.” — Sara Nelson, Association of Flight Attendants president

I went to a trivia night in July 2016 and one of the rounds was “is this quote from Thanos or Elon Musk?” I think about that a lot.

Best socks. I’ve been wearing mine at home for the painting project for most of a week. [foot pics not included]

Adorno at the Frankfurt School actually came up with a test to gauge the likelihood of a person having fascist sympathies. There are a lot of criteria, but the most influential seemed to be the belief that most humans are inherently bad & need to be controlled.

I know you mostly cover federal issues, but at the state trial level it’s also sometimes a matter of caseload. Those judges often don’t have time to do a deep dive. They check the citations, rule, and go to the next case.

Yeah. Traditional means women don’t need to vote. They want to roll it back to 1790, otherwise they wouldn’t be so preoccupied with originalism.

I'm done with performative academic civility. If you decide that a creative reading of some ancient legal document requires you to go to the animal shelter and kick puppies, the problem isn't with the people who ask what the fuck is wrong with you.

The 14th amendment was drafted during reconstruction. Y’know, after the war where we said a bunch of racist slave owners couldn’t control the country anymore. It also guarantees due process & equal protection at the state level. Anyone who wants to smash up 14A is blatantly cruel & authoritarian

If you think he’s going to call on the military, then it won’t matter how peacefully people protest. Peaceful protesters were tear gassed back in 2020, their cases of bottled water were smashed. And he didn’t call in the military on January 6th.

Idk, Peter Thiel is the kind of villain who Iluvatar would send Gandalf to deal with. He was open to a lot of interpretations of his work, but not if it was being used by an industrialist to destroy the environment & subjugate people.
