Suddenly, and not accidentally, people who work for the American federal government are having the same experience as people who find themselves living under foreign occupation.

Although they say they want to cut costs, the programs they are attacking represent a tiny fraction of the U.S. budget. The only thing these policies will certainly do, and are clearly designed to do, is alter the behavior and values of the civil service.

Although they demand transparency, Musk conceals his own conflicts of interest. Although they do say they want efficiency, Musk has made no attempt to professionally audit or even understand many of the programs being cut.

It is disgusting, but we need to be precise with our language. The National Park Service did not remove T or Q or +. The Trump Administration required that the National Park Service remove this language.

@akmemo.com Matt Buxton calculates Alaska has 1200 probationary employees, representing about 10% of the federal workforce (in this state, I believe). This week will be a painful hit to this remote state, and the hits will keep coming.

If you're a science (or non-science!) professional centering youth in your work through inclusion, engagement, or other support, thank you!

Lots of women in STEM can point toward a pivotal moment in their youth where science clicked for them, through personal connection with this work, often through a formal or informal mentor or teacher.

If you do a google search and add ā€œ-aiā€ it wonā€™t bring up the AI summary! Given how much energy AI uses this is a good way to not support it.

I do not accept hate, but I donā€™t think we will solve this by rejecting other humans with every fiber of our beings. I also reject the Trump administration, their platform, and hate and selfishness that got us here. Iā€™m hoping they donā€™t truly represent the values of most of their base.

Blame the Project 2025 leadership and billionaires enabling this. Letā€™s embrace the average American and help them see we ALL need to do our part to fight back, collectively.

Ok, but letā€™s embrace the remorse. Letā€™s look for the shared experience and shared values and stop otherizing these voters. Iā€™m struggling to forgive this country for bringing us to this moment, but we are not going to right this ship if we make (average) people feel villainized and victimized.

Yes, itā€™s exhausting to set aside your personal values day after day and then get forked by others who are not able to be apolitical/nonpartisan/neutral.

Unfortunately this belief is misplaced. It is absolutely critical to remember that laws are nothing but social contracts - if those in power agree that the law does not apply, and no one speaks out to enforce accountability to the law, it functionally does not exist.ā€

That dude is not in any kind of uniform. Forking push him aside and GO IN.

Well itā€™s not surprising. Only the worst of humans have a place in this administration. Profiting off slaves, raping kids, killing dogs...

You helped to confirm Vought and may have lost my vote forever more. Iā€™m a non partisan voter, and Iā€™ve had your back more often than not. You better show me you have mine.

The presenter is good. Pay attention to what they sayā€¦ and specific words and inflections.

I donā€™t know if I believe it. But if itā€™s true, then I assume people who resigned did that because they felt vulnerable and lacking in options, and I am really sorry about that.

I hope people flood that tip line with nonsense.

We have a right to demand IDs from anyone entering a federal building, let alone federal files.

Well thatā€™s an exhausting list.

Iā€™m deeply concerned too. Thank you for speaking out. Please show us next that you will DO something about this.

And just to be clear, sometimes I use them in reference to humans because we have decided that specific topics (amounting to equity and inclusivity) matter.

I mean, not just grants involving human participants as study subjects. Any grant. Period. Biologist here, studying non human species, and I use many of these words in proposals, reports, publications.

How many ways has our privacy been violated? I think we will be battling identity theft for the rest of our lives.

And your home address, and the socials and home addresses of your beneficiariesā€¦ No big deal. Wonder how our Senators would feel if their parentsā€™ and kidsā€™ info was just hanging around on Muskā€™s servers and maybe the dark webā€¦

That and letā€™s not get anyone ā€œin troubleā€ for stupid reasons and assist with building a case that causes them to lose their job.
