Two productive days with Global Partners Governance and Iraqi Finance Committee in @ukparliament.parliament.uk Here meeting Chair of Public Accounts Committee.

A brave book by a brave man @kabsjourno.bsky.social - a detailed account of an autocratic state and the danger faced by those who challenge seeking transparency and accountability - a must read about #Tanzania

This by @kabsjourno.bsky.social just arrived

The Polish edition of A Line In The Sand is here. Linia Na Piasku

Ancient door and hinges on Bedern (prayer) Bank, Ripon, Yorkshire. The door leads to the garden of Minster House, the Dean's residence next to Ripon Cathedral #AdoorableThursday #IronworkThursday #Ripon #Yorkshire

Interesting watching some of this afternoon‘s debate on violence against women and girls in the Commons. Many more men taking part than tended to happen in such debates when I was in Parliament. Some very moving speeches by those who have experienced violence.

Here are the recommendations on sexual exploitation from IICSA www.iicsa.org.uk/recommendati... I understand none of these have been implemented. Rather than spend billions on another public inquiry, put more money into front line services.

Wonderful nine lessons and carols in Ripon Cathedral yesterday evening - the choir sang a whole range of old carols. The music and singing was beautiful.

This large window dominates the library landing of Ripon Cathedral. It depicts Ruth and Naomi within an elaborate gold, shield-like frame, like a wall memorial but in glass. It’s from 1957 and seems on a cusp, being neither wholly traditional nor modern in style. #AdventWindows Day 10.

If you listen to Syrians, you'll see there is a huge focus on the prisons. Thousands of people are now being released from these slaughter houses, some of them had been there since 1982. #Syria

✍️ Support for Ripon Cathedral revised annexe proposals Despite a campaign against Ripon Cathedral’s annexe proposals, many people support the plans that will hopefully profit the whole community By Malcolm Hanson

I’ve enjoyed quite a few Simon McCleave novels but not been aware of many buffoons in his other plots.

During the winter months as often as possible I go to Ripon Wetlands to try and see a murmuration. This from yesterday

Brilliant concert yesterday from Northallerton male voice choir - strong Yorkshire accents warmed my heart

Georgia must change course to open EU membership talks, says European Commission

Back in the UK after observing elections in #Georgia as part of @NDI international observation mission. Pre-election period did not meet standards for democratic elections. Widespread reports of threats and harassment. 1/2

Loving this poster - “stuff” not luggage or belongings #plainEnglish

In #Georgia to observe tomorrow’s elections for NDI’s International Election Observation Mission. Been visiting the District where we will observe voting, with colleague Ona from the Philippines. Here meeting a District Election Commission Chair.

I’ve read a few Elizabeth Strout books and always enjoyed them but this one has blown me away.
