Exactly! It has been safe and friendly. This is out of our comfort zone. Wonderful and encouraging to be with others that see the rising threat to our democracy. It's hard to schedule time off to attend for many. This is not a national holiday for the US.

I think the other areas that were not the big ones, came in more slowly. Just a guess too. Some of thr group are current employees of the park service, according to very early posts, but I get where you are coming from and am curious as well.

Plenty of gray hair types (like me) were there also, and we are known for voting. Representatives are up for reelection in 2026 and I'm sure the numbers are terrifying. Fears about Social Security/Medicaid are one of my hot button issues.

I believe the Orange Wanker and his Nazi minions want a way to dissappear people using immigration infrastructure and budget. Immigrants were the test. If we don't call it out - it will become routine and citizens are next.
