Many are asking what should we do now? “We use our power, organize, mobilize, educate…the American story will not be written by who occupies the White House or by the wealthiest among us…it will be written by you, by ‘we the people.’” -fmr VP Kamala Harris receiving the NAACP Chairman’s Award.

Worst. Episode. EVER.

Usually when states go to court alleging federal coercion in violation of the 10th Amendment there is not a literal video of the President doing it.

No notes

I’m not sure the rest of the country fully grasps the panic and anger building in DC, MD, and VA. The entire economy of this area is about to collapse. Paychecks are stopping. Careers are ruined. Taxes are about to plummet. Yet no one seems able to stop this madness.

Iran in 1979. And then the religious zealots came to blame women for their erections. This can happen anywhere.

This country has seen some bad moments in the 61 years, 5 months, 16 days I’ve been on this Earth. But it has never, ever before come close to the supertoxic level of stupidity, mendacity, narcissism, nihilism, and moral apathy that threaten to destroy it today.

Presented without comment. www.ft.com/content/a7c9...

Have mentioned this before, but the parallels with election administration are really striking: complex systems require a lot of specific knowledge. Outsiders immediately assume fraud to explain the stuff they don't understand rather than talking to someone who does.

‘we’re talking about human beings’

The interim US Attorney for the Southern District of New York, a FedSoc member and former Scalia clerk, has done more to publicly expose the corruption of the Trump administration this week at greater personal cost than any elected official I can think of.

Now this is a paragraph. (@lebassett.bsky.social) www.laura-bassett.com/p/get-in-eve...

A reminder: Vladimir Putin could end the war in Ukraine right now, just by ordering his soldiers to go home. No need for treaties or negotiations.

I've been saying this for awhile now - if Musk was looking for fraud or waste, he'd have accountants combing through budgets. He has hackers for a reason and it's a huge national security risk.

Listen to Sen. Warren, she speaks the truth.

THIS is how you do it: 250,000 people in Munich, Germany, demonstrate against Putin's puppets, the Musk-endorsed AfD.

This is hilarious. I especially like the annexation of Green Bay and the mystery Mississippi River announcement.

Oh my god.

NEW: Treasury, White House officials claimed DOGE engineer who resigned today after WSJ inquired about connections to racist posts didn't have write access to code controlling trillions in federal payments when he actually did. This is from @telliotter.bsky.social, @leahfeiger.bsky.social, and me.

Received a letter from POTUS today purporting to remove me as Commissioner and Chair of the FEC. There's a legal way to replace FEC commissioners-this isn't it. I've been so fortunate to serve the American people and stir up some good trouble along the way. That's not changing anytime soon.

Crockett: I am tired of the white tears. When you compare me to Marjorie Taylor Greene or me to Lauren Boebert, there is no comparison. So the only people that are crying are the mediocre white boys that have been beaten out by people that historically have had to work so, so much harder

This is correct.

NEW CBS reports that Trump almost FLOODED the Central Valley of California by instructing the Army Corps of Engineers to release billions of gallons of water from two reservoirs in California's Central Valley. 1/

Trump is letting the richest man in the world wreak havoc on our government. It's unconstitutional and it's dangerous. Democrats must fight back. And that starts by voting no on his nominees. I urge my colleagues to join me. We cannot confirm any more of Trump's chaos cabinet.

Trump: "We're telling Ukraine they have very valuable rare earth. We want what we put it to go in terms of a guarantee. We want a guarantee. We're handing them money hand over fist."

WIRED is tracking numerous reports of Musk-related shenanigans across the federal govt. We're looking for fed employees open to discussing the activity they're seeing or to help confirm other reports. Anonymity offered. Please use @signal.org (contact dell.3030). Do not use work networks/devices.

How odd that when Trump announced his “deal” with Mexico he failed to mention that the US committed to halting the flow of assault weapons from the US to Mexico. Why did he leave that out?

Once the cyberbarons fully occupy and effectively seize control of the Treasury and other key government agencies, it won’t be long before they relegate Trump to a rubber-walled romper room, wheeling him out for occasional bursts of what passes for charisma to humor him with the illusion of power.

The men carrying out Musk's coup are Akash Bobba, Edward Coristine, Luke Farritor, Gautier Cole Killian, Gavin Kliger, and Ethan Shaotran. Make them famous. And, eventually, when possible, arrest them and charge them with multiple felonies. www.wired.com/story/elon-m...

RONALD REAGAN (1988): We should be aware of the demagogues who are ready to declare a trade war against our friends, weakening our economy, our national security, and the entire free world—all while cynically waving the American flag.

One of the few times ai agree with Reagan.

"No free people can lose their liberties while they are jealous of liberty. But the liberties of the freest people are in danger when they set up symbols of liberty as fetishes, worshipping the symbol instead of the principle it represents." Wendell Phillips, who died on this day in 1884

This is what happens when you ask me to help sanewash the Trump tariffs.

When I was a Hill staffer in 2009, a Dem trifecta was trying to pass universal healthcare. In response, Senate GOP released a memo detailing all of the tactics they in the minority could use to delay the effort as much as possible. I'm recirculating that 2009 GOP memo here. Take inspiration from it.

No one's blaming Democrats for causing this crisis, but yes, many of them are failing to meet this moment. One Democratic senator could bring the chamber to a halt. House Dems can go to fed agencies being gutted by Musk with cameras in tow. Governors can push back. State AGs can bring lawsuits.

Run for school board and do shit like this. runforwhat.net

BREAKING: CDC's top advisors demand answers and a restoration of crucial public health data. New story by me: www.statnews.com/2025/02/01/c...

Like I said: Quiet coup www.nytimes.com/2025/02/01/u...

"DOGE does not have power over established government agencies, and Musk has no role in government. It does not matter that he is an ally of the President. Musk is a private citizen taking control of established government offices. That is not efficiency; that is a coup."

I'm new to this whole "history" thing... tell me what comes after the Roaring 20s?

When asked if he was going to visit the crash site he said, ‘what site? The water? You want me to go swimming?’ This is one of the last pics of the young skaters who died. He’s a sociopath. Anyone who voted for this monster should be ashamed at best.

Well said, Pete Buttigieg
