On the nose.👍
We have two of those fluffy igloos, perfect for our two cats to go in. They sit ON them.
Boxes, however...

All their stories are of course on the amazing 'Craven's Part in the Great War website:

So, they are real then…

My view is pretty straightforward in that matter. I think that if they're dirty, they look unkempt.
It gives the impression that someone does not care about them and I was under the impression that the CWGC is funded to do precisely that under their charter.

What on earth's going on? Have they sacked all of the maintenance staff? This can't surely be policy?
Thanks for posting this Andrew.

They've got one job. One bloody job.
This sort of thing doesn't happen by accident.
This is a very tough thing to say but @cwgc.bsky.social should be ashamed of themselves.
I'm not angry, I'm just very disappointed in them because it's unforgiveable.

One of them was semi-retired but he'd been a typist for a big legal firm. He was a super fast touch typist and in the morning I would send him ten pages, each with 29 entries, and they'd be back with me, fully transcribed by lunchtime. Perfectly done, with not one mistake on any of them!

Yes it has but the Lions just did a refurb job on it, repainted it and cleaned it up.
Haven't seen the one at Marsh, might have a wander over that way. Defibrillator is a great use for them.

It was a stab in the dark to be honest, I never expected it to actually work! Suddenly, my inbox was full of willing volunteers!
Big problem now is working out how we're going to get it online and searcheable, but we've been talking with the Library Services about it. We do look-ups of course.

We did have some of the info on Keighley's Great War hospitals on our website, but earlier this month we had a big problem with the site and are in the process of rebuilding it. In the meantime there's some info available on the Library blog here:

Hi, sorry for the delay! In the first lockdown of March 2020, we got over 40 people online to help transcribe the whole #Keighley War Hospital Patients Register to an Excel file. The book is in the archives at Keighley Library. (I had already photographed every page.)
Library has loads of info too.

They don't make certificates like that any more! #scrolls #embellishments

Terrible isn’t it. It was in February this year. But it’s good to see the community rally to repair it.
As far as I can tell the box became a library back in 2023.
The Lions group have fixed up a couple of other boxes as libraries recently, including the one by the Turkey Inn at Gooseye.

Recently refurbished too, after it was vandalised.
Local people came together to fix it up again and replace all the damaged books in short order.

These ones at Cliffe Castle in Keighley are magnificent too! Taken last Saturday.

Is that Maypole Dairy for the margarine suppliers name?

Can't suggest any more regarding officers cap badges than Chris has done, but the corporal seated on the front row, extreme left has a wound stripe, so it's post July 1916. Possible MM ribbon on a man two rows behind him?
Margarine and jam boxes stacked up to hold up the front bench seat!

That's quite reminiscent of Kate Lycett's work. She lives in Hebden Bridge and produces some terrific paintings. One of the unique features of her work is that she adds gold leaf and sews gold thread into her paintings.

Not too bad to work on either. Did Major servicing on them for a few years at RAF St. Athan. Including this one:

Love Nuthatches. The way they spiral their way down a treetrunk when feeding (mostly). As opposed to the Treecreeper, which always spirals up the tree.
