bless the fans 🥲

Scott had the chance to preview this for us, and I gotta concur - I also had access to the demo build, and Expedition 33 looks like it might just be one of the best RPGs of the year if the rest of the game stacks up.

Thank you @petrana.bsky.social for the lovely write up! Very cool to be on polygon dot com ^^ www.polygon.com/gaming/53329...

Shrek 5 Cast Announcement www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kbiw...

It’s not the most glamorous part of my work, but I’ve been spending a good deal of time lately condensing text to fit relatively tight constraints, and there’s something about the process that tickles a very particular part of my brain. Also I’m pretty good at it!

The exultation I feel when

io9 talks to translators about the highlights and challenges of working on major shonen manga series such as One Piece, Spy x Family, and Undead Unluck.

Oh—you went two years working on a game that got cancelled, and went to another job? Oh—you went three years working on a game that got cancelled, and went to another job? Oh—you went one year working on a game that got cancelled? In succession—rarity you can put any of those six years on a CV.

how many people currently trying to find jobs in the gaming industry have to go to prospective employers like 'yeah I can't tell you what I spent the last SIX FUCKING YEARS working on cause it was never formally announced and was then canceled'

I think if the studio that made Blood and No One Lives Forever and Aliens Versus Predator 2 and F.E.A.R. and the Shadow of Mordor games cannot survive then genuinely nothing can and complete and total collapse, at least in the West, is inevitable, outside of maybe Microsoft.

YOU PATENTED THE NEMESIS SYSTEM AND FOR WHAT? TO JUST KILL THE STUDIO THAT GAVE IT TO YOU AAAAAAAAAAA

Laughing because otherwise I'd be crying.

Old as hell PC gamers pouring several ones out today

The games industry truly doesn't deserve all of the talented people it has lost, and will continue to lose. I'm so sorry for everyone who is impacted with every layoff; you deserve far better.

WB confirms Jason's reporting in a new statement

Warner Bros.' patent on the nemesis system is set to expire on August 11, 2036.

STORY: Warner Bros. Games is shutting down three studios, including Monolith Productions, and cancelling the Wonder Woman game. "The quality of too many of our new releases has really missed the mark." Employees blame the weak slate on former president David Haddad www.bloomberg.com/news/article...

BREAKING: Warner Bros. Games is shutting down Monolith Productions, Player First Games, and WB San Diego, sources tell Bloomberg News. Warner Bros. is also canceling the Wonder Woman game.

One fun bit of trivia related to Time Travelers is that the original PSP release of Danganronpa 2 has a poster advertising the game in the movie theater. Just the same, Time Travelers also has a reference to Danganronpa in the form of a Monokuma doll in Kyugo's apartment.

My first* @aftermath.site piece is (surprise surprise) about a manga series I've been digging by Yasuda Kasumi on @viz.com called Fool Night and how its peak dystopian fiction. aftermath.site/a-manga-abou...

'Deadly Premonition' released on this day in 2010. Famously endearing, notoriously clunky. A digital tribute to 'Twin Peaks' by way of open world exploration, survival horror combat, and detective simulation. Life is beautiful.

Thank you to all our wonderful readers!

The Ninja vs. Gokudo manga about ninja against yakuza gets a TV anime!

Manga creators Kaoru Mori (A Bride's Story) and Aki Irie (Go with the Clouds, North by Northwest) will no longer have their works published in the Aokishi magazine, and will publish their works elsewhere going forward.

Lots of big news! Romeo's Blue Skies is up for pre-order, plus our new interview web series premieres Monday! Plus, a new way to support and get some cool experiences in return. wix.to/gDdyc6Q #Anime #PreOrder

I’ve spent a lot of time irl with Udon employees, not including Matt Moylan, but he is kinda the only one who is weird and insane like this. And it confuses me that he would post something like this when so many of their staff/artists who make the company what it is are openly LGBT/POC

New Piece: Sangokushi vs. Sangokushi The first of my series of Three Kingdoms anime pieces pits NTV's 1985-1986 made-for-TV duology against Shinano Kikaku's 1992-1994 theatrical film trilogy! Which movie series will stand tall & unify China?! landofobscusion.blogspot.com/2025/02/noth...

You should totally check this out. It's an amazing history lesson from two people who've been there for so much of the anime industry's lifespan.

Also, for Anime Dream, I was a part of the site for 90% of its history. I know where the bodies are buried. Shit, I spent an hour just bullshitting with former EIC Matt Brown about the "good old days" when researching the book. As such, they will be making appearances whenever I mention the media.

Just went live with the early access article. This week it's a fantastic piece by Paul Cecchini that goes into the process of bringing the Digimon films to North America. @ellyberries.bsky.social edited. \o/ As always, backers get to read it first. (Replacing with a link as I forgot alt text)

Seconding this. From my own experiences: I've met a bunch of Robotech guys (Not folks that like Robotech, but folks who never went far beyond that), and the hardest core ones tend to be pretty damn WEIRD about it.

Our new podcast, The Anime Business, explores the history of anime in the West with the people that fought for it. First ep is up now! youtu.be/xmw3SlXL_mI

"did you hear that, Zach? apparently, today's our birthday!" happy 15th to Deadly Premonition. playing this at launch and trying to tell people about it was like trying to convince someone to eat a Sinner's Sandwich. (which is tasty, BTW!) glad it's finally gotten an audience!

the bubble shall pop the hype artists shall scurry the tech press will pretend they didn't help inflate it
