The reasonable position without evidence is to take the one with the fewest assumptions, and unfortunately all the parties involved have shown themselves to be slime-covered rat fuckers, backstabbing saboteurs & open fascists... so the most basic assumption is they're up to something.

Obviously it's not good skepticism to make that jump without evidence, but I don't really think the DNC apparatus, DHS, ICE, or any police department really deserves the benefit of the doubt.
Until they can show me otherwise, this was a politically motivated attempt to chill the political process.

Yeah, I also don't really know, I just know Shanks was involved in the directorial side later on in the show, and when he was on Andromeda for a guest spot around season 7 or so he also had his shirt off with the hunked-up styling so...

My understanding is Shanks was at least partially the reason for it, but that's heavily 3rd hand accounting, so take it with a whole container of salt. I do know what i've seen of him in other shows around this time had him coming across similarly.

Like, i've seen the white paper and given it's assumptions I think it's largely accurate.
