I got frustrated with my engineer chicken scratch last year and retaught myself cursive as a way of making handwriting things less physically frustrating. Relearned every motion and built my own little script piecemeal. It's devolved into an unreadable scrawl again, but in a different way.

Not sure if this is of use to anyone else but this is how I think about images I'm creating (in Inkscape, PowerPoint etc): 'mise en scène' vs function. In most cases I just want something to appear a certain way, other times it needs to behave a certain way. Top: all 3 look same Bottom: surprise!

I said it would get worse very quickly. By tomorrow we will have completed the most dangerous & frightening 24 hours thus far of Trump 2.0. Just to name a few: 1. Defiance of a court order by sending migrants to Sudan without due process (despite clear DP decision SCOTUS) & Dist. CT. order.

A woman was declared brain dead at 9 weeks pregnant. That was in February. Her family, including her 5 year old, still visits. The fetus has fluid on the brain and may not survive birth. www.npr.org/2025/05/16/n...

I'm disappointed by Propublica's framing here. As they note, the tip-line message had two tipline emails. Nobody snitched to the EPA address, sure, but they didn't get an FOIA response on the OPM address. The OPM address would be the DOGE server. Any actual snitches would have used that one.

The truly infuriating thing here is that we might actually see some price reductions in the next 4 years. From Medicare price negotiations from the Inflation Reduction Act. The prices for the first 10 drugs negotiated under Biden don't take effect until 2026, just in time for Trump to take credit.

My daughter’s speech therapist went out of business because Medicaid reimbursement rates were too low. We do not have Medicaid. I’m going to keep posting this until people understand that when Medicaid gets cut *everyone* loses services.
