#Tilda Tilda Swinton decries ‘internationally enabled mass murder’ at Berlin film festival: www.theguardian.com/film/2025/fe...

Proud to be one of the 350 rabbis signing this statement — an ad in the NYT today and a declaration of our values. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025... For more—and to sign— go to saynotoethniccleansing.org

Hope is never futile - it is one of the greatest forms of resistance we have.

I have long admired @nikitagill.bsky.social’s poetry & powerful messaging, so this one on hope resonates with me as it’s the type of hope that fights on & endures. It meshes with my longstanding belief in Paolo Freire’s critical hope, where action is what gives hope (from Pedagogy of the Oppressed)

Great article from @gerherbert.bsky.social "The cars that promised us freedom have left us stuck in traffic, inhaling fumes and created soulless city centres with streets designed purely to serve vehicles.... The choice is clear, and the time to act is now." www.independent.ie/opinion/comm...

Geraldine Herbert: If you’re opposed to new rural speed limits, here are seven reasons why you are wrong From tomorrow, the speed limit on the road beside my home will be reduced from 80kmh to 60kmh. It’s a narrow road right beside the Grand Canal, yet, until now, it has been perfectly legal to…

Prompted by somebody mentioning it on LinkedIn just now, can we take a moment to celebrate the UK's "Tell Us Once" system? If you don't know, government do an amazing service when you've been bereaved: one message, and *all* government departments get updated. We can do things well when we want to

Should batteries be #recycleable or #rechargeable?

I will use every avenue open to me to oppose this government’s strokes. The ‘Super Junior’ stroke is a clearly unconstitutional one designed to share the spoils of office widely. I am seeking an injunction to stop these ‘super Juniors’ attending cabinet.

Colin Sheridan: Decency and moral courage are clearly not prerequisites for politics. That we have a President blessed with both only compounds the lack of it in others. @irishexaminer.bsky.social www.irishexaminer.com/opinion/comm...

Advertising is a problem:

Cycling our way into February by celebrating LĂĄ FhĂŠile BrĂde, #Imbolc Tomorrow at 3. Be home for the match!

Five years ago, Keir Starmer understood the #climate emergency, supported protesters & voted against Heathrow expansion. Now, after his political lobotomy, he’s all in on 3rd runway & persecuting protesters.

Reminder: The EU still refuses to suspend Israel's favourable trade deal, expressly conditioned on Israel respecting human rights. The EU still insists it is based on the rule of law and respect for human rights. The EU speaks with a forked tongue.

@bsky.app @safety.bsky.app You seriously need to get rid of the cat fishers.

As a father of five kids, I totally agree with this evergreen post.

A case like this will be reproduced more and more in tjhe USA and not only in the construction industry: in the whole week only 8 out of 43 workers have shown up to finish a building. Trump has just shot the US economy in the foot...

A woman was found unresponsive in a house in Waterfotd city yesterday, and later died. RIP. Angry men, and their cheerleaders, will ask what she was wearing, why she said, why couldn't she just.... and if he is a foreigner.

A typical European car is parked 92% of the time. It spends 1/5th of its driving time looking for parking. Its 5 seats only move 1.5 people. 86% of its fuel never reaches the wheels, and most of the energy that does, moves the car, not the people. Sound efficient? HT @ellenmacarthurfdn.bsky.social

Tonight my young kids, who watched a show about climate change and were scared, were asking me questions. I did my best to answer honestly without scaring them more. The hardest part was the voice in my head saying that we’re the only species smart enough to destroy ourselves with our stupidity.

I answered a reporter's question: "The long-term well-being of our climate system is incompatible with the short-term gains of shareholders." I stand by that statement.

THE meme of 2025 for me.

Have you noticed that, despite billions upon billions of dollars being invested in AI, none of the tech ghouls pushing this technology, nor the vacuous politicians embracing it ever say how it will make us happier, more secure, and collectively prosperous. Can you think why that might be?

#Waterford #Ireland Would we like 29% fewer road crashes? , and 2/3 less serious injuries? Read from an eminent motoring journalist, @gerherbert.bsky.social, on how our planned speed limit reductions, and other measures, can help with that:

This is a very important point. For any organisation with a moral compass it's time to ditch toxic twitter.

#cycling #engagement #AndSheCycles I was very happy ot be able to quickly receive the reocrding of this webinar: "It's a Boy's Thing" , about the challenges of girls continuing to cycle. It addressed the reasons based on research form Dr, Robert Egan #TCD. streamyard.com/watch/zgJqkM...

Wild night for Met Éireann to debut on Bluesky. Welcome!

"I am also a ferry," says the Tram. "I am also a bus," says the Ferry. "I am also a train," says the Bus. "I am also a tram," says the Train. #Switzerland's way of showing a national or regional transit pass buys access to all of the above. It's not the mode—it's the mobility.
