I regret to inform you all that the thing I put off for an hour an a half this evening did, indeed, only take me fifteen minutes to do.

Oooo (chastened)

Federal workers are already posting direct accounts of their firings on TikTok, garnering viral sympathy and support. Why Dems are not taking advantage of these already public, very personal profiles is indeed baffling, see this thread: www.tiktok.com/t/ZP8YVxTUq/

I just want to write a poem as good as Todd Dillard's How To Live.

I keep saying this but... if you live in a big city and want to fight fascism, questioning what your mayor and cops are doing to unhoused people is an *excellent* start. Criminalizing people who have nothing is how nice urban liberals do fascism.

It is perfectly legal to know your rights and to educate others about them, too. EVERYONE in the United States, citizen or not, has rights. I will not allow this administration to intimidate us from helping you know about them. Here’s our shareable guide ⬇️: (pt. 1/2)

democrats won’t admit it, but my family’s economic outlook has gotten a LOT better since Trump took office. but what do i know? i don’t have a fancy economics degree, i’m just a regular guy who runs an airplane scrapyard

Just going to say again that one of the best things folks can be doing is to walk around their neighborhoods handing out two pagers to their neighbors explaining what's happening. If 1 million people committed to doing this over the month of March, we'd be getting somewhere re: info.

The fact that a special ed program funding was canceled, and special ed teachers were fired, and probably because of the word "transition" which is not even in the context of gender issues but of helping kids with special needs transition to the grown up world after school, should enrage everyone.

the only time i can recall being language policed is when i wrote a column trying to explain how material changes in the latino community might do more to explain the trump shift than “latinx” and andrew sullivan screamed at me for not disavowing “latinx”

Since the next step for people like Trump is to blame the consequences of his actions on others, the most effective response to people like this is "It sounds like they lied to you." You can't turn these people into overnight liberals; you *can* shake their trust in the people who deceived them.

Got my first "Violating an Executive Order" and "I'll make sure you lose federal funding" parent threat today for teaching "DEI" books in our upcoming "Liberty and Justice" themed unit. Even in "Blue" Massachusetts we're dealing with this. Anyway, don't obey in advance, and don't obey later.

ONE way to tackle the day would be to read this essay about joy and beauty in art. Just saying. tease: it opens with a 1,055-word first sentence.

“People should still be encouraged to read and to analyze information without the aid of LLMs or video because it is good for society.”

been a kinda obnoxious amount of me this week, I know, but I've got one more out today, and I hope you'll check it out an essay about seeing Ross Gay read, which reminded me of a The National concert, it's about art & sports & praise & beauty & JOY.

I can't believe my solo show is coming to an end this weekend. 🥺 It's been such an amazing month. There is a closing reception Saturday @ Glass Growers Gallery in Erie, PA from 3-5 PM. I'll be hanging out. There will be chocolate covered strawberry cookies to tempt you! Hope to see you there.
