Portland is my home town, born and raised. Thank you for fighting for our social security and Medicare. I protested back in the 70's against the Vietnam war and government lies. I'm proud of all the cities and towns that turned out against oligarchy and authoritarism.🤗

Thousands of people in Arvada, Littleton, deep-red Colorado Springs and Grand Junction, even the quaint little mountain town of Fraser had a few hundred people turn out! We weren't just bringing the protest to the Capitol - we were bringing it EVERYWHERE!

3,000 in Morgantown, WV, double what was predicted, double what turned out in our capitol, Charleston. Great speakers keeping it local and specific to rural areas of concern, coal health and safety, GLBTQ+ safety, Veterans and federal jobs. All united, all kinds of welcome #proudwv #Mountaineers

Another book banned: Beachy's work on gay Berlin. Also a standard book in queer Weimar studies and when it came out so many of us felt validated & instantly supported. It is part of a wave of scholarship the momentum of which still supports our work. + www.penguinrandomhouse.ca/books/10065/...

"While Trump typically goes to Florida for his $3.4 million golf weekends on Fridays, he traveled a day early to attend a dinner at his Doral resort for the Saudi LIV tour. This trip will cost taxpayers at least $4.2 million due to the detour to Miami Int'l Airport" www.huffpost.com/entry/trump-...

Whether it sounds common place or glib, it remains true and accurate and affirming: We Are Not Alone as well as We Are Stronger Together. If you're doubtful, find your tribe and you will know.

Our libraries are essential to our well-being as individuals and as communities. No matter how much we individually do or don't use our nearest library, it serves others around us. We need to strengthen as many bulwarks against the assaults underway right now.

YES! Dems can be bold leaders of the new paradigm and abandon the "old order" of DC politics (while honoring historic roots). Design a future for all of us, untethered to the elite. PLEASE broadcast that you get it, that you strayed along with many us, that you will take RISKS for the future.

This quote inspires, but more importantly, motivates me to keep writing the real stories of our lives. First, in2015, "Marie Equi, Radical Politics and Outlaw Passions," OR State Press. A remarkable, fearless woman lives openly in the early 1900s on the US West Coast. She becomes a doctor,

The orders aim to reduce IMLS, threatening the functioning of programs: Grants to State Libraries, Interlibrary Loan Programs, Community Learning Initiatives, Grants for Tribal and Rural Communities, and critical resources that support literacy, workforce development, and nationwide access.

The White House has issued new executive orders that threaten critical federal funding for libraries, including for the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS), a vital source of support for libraries across the country.

Now that I am writing the history and my experiences in the 1980s and 1990s, I find Picano's brave accounts in "Borrowed Time" and "Last Watch of the Night" models of clarity and wisdom. He knew how to describe pain and vulnerability without mucking up the pages with maudlin excess.
