It's never good when the richest person in the world and the worst person in the world are the same person.

travelling doesn’t change who you are, but it can make you think about things in different ways or deepen how you feel about the world or develop new hobbies, and if you travel long enough suddenly you’re a person who gushes about nature on multi-day hikes anyways the routeburn trail is spectacular

I’m George Takei and I approve of this message.

I hope America is as lucky as the delta jet - everyone survives but the right wing explodes

Could someone place an order for 100 more Jasmine Crocketts for overnight delivery to the Democratic Party thx in advance

Van Hollen: "Can you imagine FDR in the middle of WW2 saying to Churchill, 'you know, we're not going to continue to help you until you turn over half of your coal and mineral reserves.' That's not how you behave when you want to support a friend who's under attack by an authoritarian like Putin."

@News1130 giving air time to the ridiculous "51 state" garbage like its some kind of real thing is an insult to listeners. I immediately changed channels. Do better!

Déjà vu all over again.

As a BC resident, I'm alarmed about the rapid takeover of formerly secure gov't data in the USA. Eby should bring our medical records back to BC, I never consented to have Elon musk trolling around in my personal health records. David Eby, expand buy Canadian to our records!

hey quick question does Goliath win in that story

This is how our government works now. Petty little man-child idiots making life and death decisions for us all. They need to be responsible for every single death.

Holy shit, don't know if this is true or not ( who does anymore, and thats addressed here too ). but the fact that its an entirely believable narrative is terrifyingly real.

On 21 March 1933 Adolf Hitler was officially sworn in as chancellor of Germany. The same day he pardoned 8,000 Nazis, who had committed violent acts, starting with the failed Hitler coup on 8 November 1923. www.nytimes.com/2025/01/21/u...

travelling the world while taking as few planes as possible is conceptually fun, but then it takes four days to go from northern laos to southern thailand via two boats and three trains and it turns out no actually it’s still pretty awesome anyways travel day three was good

We are about to have a president for whom there are utterly and literally no expectations. No one expects him to behave well. No one expects him to uphold normal standards of decency.

Good!

Immigration is good for Canada if the policies are thoughtful and well managed. But the federal government has effectively turbo charged temporary student/worker VISAs & overall immigration targets - without accounting for housing & health care pressures. vancouversun.com/opinion/colu...

Is Carrie Underwood gonna sing ‘Before He Cheats’ at the inauguration or nah?

A good point. #LAFires www.mcsweeneys.net/articles/i-w...

Who else is really looking forward to not watching the Inauguration? 👀 👎

It’s absolutely mind boggling that one of the most advanced societies in the world would choose - choose - to go back to a time when citizens were refused medical care. Add to that education choice, wage equality, equity, the right to vote. We can be moving forward. We choose to move backwards.

HI AMERICA, YEAH, NO. LOVE, CANADA

I think I speak for all Americans when I say that I have no curiosity about what stolen national secrets were doing stacked in a country club bathroom and I would not like to see any published report on that subject ever

Morten Morland’s Times cartoon: January 9, 2025

Bernie woke up, went on X, and chose violence.

It snowed. It’s not like there’s a violent mob outside beating up cops who are desperately trying to protect members of Congress inside.

Good morning ☀️ Jeff Bezos censored this cartoon by @anntelnaes.bsky.social because he didn’t want anyone to see it and now it’s the most seen political cartoon ever. Way to do it , @washingtonpost.com 🙌🏻

when i’m in charge of every train in the world there’s gonna be an app that lets folks know when we’re about to see a nice lake or field or waterfall so we don’t look up just as we’re passing it and get sad because we’ll never get to appreciate that sight again anyways train to bangkok was pretty

Every airline should cancel routes into Russia after they shot down an airliner, then tried to make it crash in the water to cover it up
