Those William St peak hour services from the southern routes were very useful. Bring them back!

Why do you only care about former political commentators? What about the current ones?

Seattle has a version of that already (albeit not driverless). Seems to work just fine...

There's your fire suppression system 🤣

Really puts both Flinders St and Southern Cross to shame, doesn't it?

So there are more tram stops in Melbourne than railway stations in Australia

They are good, but one even better thing about American ones (maybe not all of them) is that a push'n'hold will read out the intersection you are at.

Build the parallel pedestrian tunnel now!

Try this one for a "seems super boring but is actually fascinating" experience...

Here we see two of the new tracks to South Yarra being installed...

The station was extensively reconstructed in 1959 to amplify the existing 6 tracks (4 to SY & 2 to ER) to 10 tracks (6 to SY & 4 to ER). The photo shows the shiny new station building in Swan St, and the first of the new bridges being installed. New platforms are being built at the top centre.

You really think they didn't factor the dock upgrade into the project from the start, and then only included it after an 'oh fuck' moment?

My point was that Vancouver can only do these frequency because they are fully automated.

Get rid of drivers and we'd have a better chance of something like this...

My first ever gunzel photo was of the first brand new Comeng train, taken over the fence from the Swimming Centre in Batman Ave. Someone from the workshops saw me and invited me over the fence for a personal tour of the new train. I was 16 or so.

It was pretty rare to see Ws in Elizabeth St back in 1985, wasn't it? It was an all-Z street in my memory (which is probably faulty).

Don't get me wrong, it was a great report, just that "many" might mean 15 to some people, but the fact that it is 110 is absolutely mind blowing and probably would have been worth a mention.

I was thinking about something similar just the other day, and my conclusion was that The Cure is the Pink Floyd of the 90s.

Just a fortuitously futuristic acronym for "Electricity Meter & Allied Industries Ltd" en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email_L...

Do tickets need snagging now? In May I just turned up and bought them at the door.

Yep, agree with all that, but for people unfamiliar with the project it would have really underlined how impressive it is.

Weird that he never once mentioned just how many they are doing.

Careful, you'll awaken the "trains don't fit in tunnels" brigade...

And of course Sydney brane decided to de-prioritise this area for a metro in favour of duplicating existing lines...

I had a NZ colleague tell me yesterday that she had a chicken (check-in) with her customer, and I nearly laughed out loud...

Yeah, even that would be better...

This still sucks. I don't know why they can't run to the Arts Centre with barriers to keep the tracks clear, like they used to in the past.

So basically everyone from the southern suburbs has to walk from Anzac station?

Why do I remember those platforms having that rubber flooring with the circles?
