I really enjoyed listening to @elizabethlinos.bsky.social on Fresh Air. Highly recommended! podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/f...

In this op-ed, we - the presidents of SREE and AEFP - joined forces to argue for the importance of evidence on "what works" and how cutting such funding is not "efficient" - it is wasteful. www.brookings.edu/articles/cut...

My new piece is out: theconversation.com/if-us-attemp...

One of my recent articles has now been officially assigned page numbers in Journal of Conflict Resolution. 🔍 Key finding: The spatial distribution of loyal, disloyal, and wavering rebel supporters explains who gets targeted and where. Check it out here: doi.org/10.1177/0022...

The consequences of the illegal shutdown of USAID:

And it's not just goods and services sold to USAID, but all goods and services sold via the Development-Industrial Complex. A thing I learned via various consultancies over the years is how much "foreign aid" is actually spent in the US and/or on American workers and goods.

Our amazing colleague, Andrew Natsios, who is a former USAID administrator, on Elon and the DOGE’s attack on USAID 👇

What does U.S. aid really pay for anyway? 1.5 million lives saved via Gavi, for one. New in AEJ: Economic Policy www.aeaweb.org/articles?id=...

That building should forever stand as a monumental symbol of American corruption.

I'm trying to find more example studies for my Quant 2 Master's class this semester. Can someone please point me toward international development articles with field experiments and replication files that credibly analyze: 1) attrition 2) non-compliance 3) interference/spillover Thank you!

More people speak English today than any other language in human history. But what do we lose, psychologically and culturally, as a result? For this week's @newyorker.com, I explore how English shapes thought—from our conception of time to how we talk about the senses.

Put together a quick starter pack for political methodologists (broadly defined) who have made their way over to BlueSky. If I've missed folks, please let me know! go.bsky.app/JBavA7x

I've seen so many great starter packs, but I've yet to encounter one on int'l organizations and cooperation. So, I made one. It is no doubt incomplete, but I hope you find it helpful nonetheless. Feel free to circulate and, if you have suggestions on who to add, send them my way! go.bsky.app/RbHqH38

New podcast episode out! 🎙️ @ryancbriggs.net & @vincentab.bsky.social dive into their latest paper on the importance of statistical power in poli sci. They break down what it means for research reliability & why it matters for the field. Don’t miss it! podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/i4r...

I think this is the biggest fallacy in mainstream reporting—the idea that Trump is super popular. He lost the popular vote 2x. He never had approval ratings over 50% during his presidency. He is the leader of the MAGA movement, but that that doesn’t mean he has mass appeal.

really can't be overstated that a core pillar of MAGAism is to steal your tax dollars and give them to Donald Trump

When oil revenue is high, Latin America has easier access to credit. You'd think states would seize this opportunity to borrow more. In a forthcoming World Development article that is open access until June 26, Stephen Kaplan and I show that they don't authors.elsevier.com/a/1j2gk,6yxD...

Polisky! In a new ISQ piece, Terry Chapman and I look at the effects of IMF surveillance on natural resource governance. We find that developing countries like Guyana are more likely to create natural resource funds when the IMF advises them to do so doi.org/10.1093/isq/...
