starlings - love their nutty antics, song, spectacular plumage. heartened to hear we have not made them extinct and shocked that they are invasive in the US!

sorry - I couldnt resist... so the main idea is about 'ungrading' but presumably the entries to the competition will have to be, er, graded... 🙃
comment in response to post
who will grade the entries... what criteria? (bazinga)

thanks - completely weird suits me fine at this point in eternity 🤪

I strive for authenticity... not inauthenticity - does that make me weird then

so many assumptions going on in that article not sure where to start... 😬 'Abstract knowledge' will have to do for now... and a reference to NL theory from 2001 which tries to take abstract knowledge and its place in education seriously: www.csalt.lancs.ac.uk/jisc/csaltdo...

maybe that's why IPA then... catchy 3-letter acronym, accessible methods and steps, but IPA is too neat for the likes of Vagle, for example... so who's saying 'anything but quasi' I wonder...
comment in response to post
Thanks Helen - I wonder about the focus on IPA though... did you consider other variants of phenomenology to spotlight? IPA is interpretive/qualitative research, but some consider IPA quasi-phenomenological at best...? As you mention, is IPA just easier to say?🌞

yes, but more than a skill too... it's generative of thinking, i.e. my own scholarship. LLM conflates process with product/output. I dont think we're just nay-saying/thought police on here - these are serious concerns. AI can help in many areas but dont delegate learning to think to it just yet.

if you define 'research tool' as, see what it comes up with and then pick through the output to make sure it's legit then ok... ish... at least that's kinda generative... but the real concern is about accreditation via fraud... lot of it about 😔

and yet, 'sufficient' IQ not being a requirement (and I'm not saying it should), they may still turn out in vast numbers to vote AfD 🤷, thus the laughter will be short lived 🫣

Thanks for the reply - I am too ignorant I needed to look up Le Guin... I guess future paradigms are hard to envisage from the current one, or how such a massive change can come about...

happy birthday! sorry I can't draw - but here's sick squid (£6 - as in the classic oceanic joke) - more than sick, that one's deceased!
comment in response to post
thanks - neoliberal grip on power seems pretty solid... And nil tactics have worked to address birth rate 🤷

yes, but no fixing this. What's the plan for dethroning neoliberalism? Wealth not the only factor though - many seem to resort to pets to exchange unconditional affection with rather than kids - ancient values expressed as 'children are an heritage' gave way to 'children are an inconvenience'?

and with the addition of mètis, is #epistemicfluency an adequate target? petergoodyear.net/2021/08/07/p...
