First team to 10 wins tonight in Edmonton /Los Angeles? 6 minutes. 12 shots. 4 goals.

Every first round NHL playoff series in the East is now over. Every series in the West is ongoing. (For at least another 45 minutes or so anyways).

ST. LOUIS - The #NHLJets have been here before. This time, they hope to be the ones forcing the handshake line inside Enterprise Center and moving on to bigger and better things. My latest for @winnipegfreepress.com includes a quick trip down memory lane. www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...

My latest @winnipegfreepress.com newsletter has been sent to subscribers — it’s free! Just add email addy to get every Thursday — and chronicles a busy (and sleepless) 30-plus hours on the #NHLJets beat. From Winnipeg to Fargo to Minneapolis to St. Louis. www.winnipegfreepress.com/briefings/im...

I’m en route to St. Louis but #NHLJets HC Scott Arniel just told reporters back in Winnipeg, including colleague @wiebesworld.bsky.social, that Mark Scheifele won’t travel with team and is out for Game 6. Wouldn’t say if he’s in concussion protocol. Big loss for team as they try to finish the Blues.

Turns out not such a quick layover. Maintenance issue means we are in third hour of flight delay here in Minneapolis, waiting on a replacement plane. 28 hours and counting of being awake. Starting to fade. Afternoon nap in St. Louis not looking so promising at this point!

Mark Scheifele didn't make it past the first period. Connor Hellebuyck let in another softy. The #NHLJets were in a world of hurt. But in a pivotal playoff game that wasn't for the faint of heart, Winnipeg gutted out a 5-3 victory Wednesday. My column: www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...

#NHLJets HC Scott Arniel is livid with St. Louis coach Jim Montgomery, who claimed post-game that Mark Scheifele got hurt from the (clean) Radek Faksa hit, not the (illegal) Brayden Schenn hit. "I didn't know Monty got his medical degree, trying to say how our player got hurt. He's way off base."

#NHLJets HC Scott Arniel on Mark Scheifele: "We'll just see wait and see, see how he is later tonight, see tomorrow." Will he travel to St. Louis? "I don't know. We'll have to wait and see tomorrow, find out what's going on. We don't discuss injuries at this time of year."

Adam Lowry, empty-netter. 5-2 #NHLJets.

4-2 #NHLJets. What a goal. Vlad Namestnikov with 69 seconds left in the 2nd period.

Now Josh Morrissey is in some agony on the bench after a huge hit from Zach Bolduc.

#NHLJets grab the lead again. Dylan DeMelo, I believe, off Colton Parayko. 3-2 8:55 left in the 2nd.

#NHLJets take advantage of a bad Blues line change and get a 3-on-1, but Jordan Binnington calmly gloves Neal Pionk's shot to keep this game tied 2-2 with 9:41 left in the 2nd.

St. Louis ties it 6:06 into the 2nd period. Jimmy Snuggerud slides a shot past Connor Hellebuyck off the rush. 2-2 game, and the #NHLJets are without their No. 1 centre, Mark Scheifele, due to injury.

#NHLJets coach Scott Arniel was absolutely tearing into referee Jake Brenk before the second period even began. He was hot about something.

#NHLJets haven't scored a goal in the second period of a game so far this series. They begin this one with a 2-1 lead.

So many things happened in that first period that it sort of got glossed over, but that Connor Hellebuyck save off Oskar Sundqvist was truly incredible. One of his best, ever.

#NHL makes it official: Game 6 on Friday in St. Louis starts at 7 p.m CT.

I mean, they also missed a spear by Cole Perfetti to Zach Bolduc. They're not conspiring against anyone -- they just miss a lot of things in a game.

Cole Perfetti gets away with one. He speared Zach Bolduc in the gentelmen's region, and the St. Louis forward is in some agony. Refs missed it entirely.

Now we have complete mayhem.

This game might just be slightly intoxicated. Everything is happening so far.

Nino Niederreiter makes it 2-1 #NHLJets. Great tip of a Dylan Samberg shot.

The league reviews everything.

Now we have offsetting penalties -- interference to Gabe Vilardi and diving against Oskar Sundqvist - during the #NHLJets power play. Everything is happening.

Connor Hellebuyck with his best save of the series to keep this game tied. Incredible stick stop off Oskar Sundqvist on a shorthanded one-timer.

Brayden Schenn with a massive hit on Mark Scheifele -- who didn't have the puck. That draws a big crowd and, I believe, a St. Louis penalty.

Tie game. #NHLJets repeated failure to clear their own zone comes back to bite then. Once again it was a tipped point shot that leads to a St. Louis goal. Nathan Walker got his stick on the Colton Parayko wrister.

Kyle Connor quickly makes it 1-0 #NHLJets.

Big one.

#NHLJets have been typically having a 13th forward and 7th defenceman take the warmups during the playoffs. Just as insurance David Gustafsson and Haydn Fleury, both expected to be scratched tonight, are on the ice now with the rest of the roster.
