Now Logan Stanley takes a late second period penalty as the #NHLJets continue to spiral.

A couple silver linings for the #NHLJets? -They don't have to play here in St. Louis again this year after tonight -A playoff series ignores cumulative total score. Other than that, I've got nuthin' Get ready for Game 7 Sunday at 6 pm in Winnipeg.

5-1 St. Louis. Alexey Toropchenko gets in on the second period scoring party here as he beats Connor Hellebuyck with a wrister. To think, it was only a few minutes ago Nikolaj Ehlers had 2 great chances on a 2-on-1 rush to give the #NHLJets a 2-1 lead.

The unravelling continues as Josh Morrissey is called for roughing. St. Louis, fresh off scoring 3 goals in 126 seconds, goes to the power play looking to build on a 4-1 lead which feels even bigger.

This crowd here in something else, and man do you see how much St. Louis -- well on their way now to a 15th straight home win -- feed off it. #NHLJets have now been outscored 16-4 in this building over nearly 8 periods of playoff hockey.

4-1 St. Louis, who are just feeding off their incredibly loud crowd now. The wheels have fallen off for the #NHLJets once again in this rink.

3-1 St. Louis. Brayden Schenn uses Neal Pionk as a screen and rips a shot that fools Connor Hellebuyck. Blues go bang bang here.

And St. Louis regains the lead. Nathan Walker, who is becoming a major factor in this series, buries a great feed from Phillip Broberg to put the #NHLJets in a 2-1 deficit just past the midway mark of the 2nd.

Nikolaj Ehlers stopped, then stopped again on a two-on-one rush. Jordan Binnington comes up big for his team.

Tie game. Cole Perfetti. This one wasn't offside.

Another penalty coming up St. Louis here. Dylan Samberg went down in some pain and the referees now huddling to discuss. They must have called this a major as they are now reviewing it.

Ridiculous save by Jordan Binnington to keep this 1-0 for St. Louis. Cole Perfetti got robbed.

Oh my goodness Morgan Barron. Tie game off a beautiful burst just 29 seconds into the second period.

#NHLJets have a strong opening few minutes, give up first goal off a play they considered challenging for goaltender interference, kill off a couple penalties, whiff on their own PP, see a spectacular Connor Hellebuyck save and take a 1-0 deficit into the 1st intermission. Shots 8-2 for St. Louis.

How did St. Louis not score there???

#NHLJets going to the penalty kill for a second time here as Nino Niederreiter is called for interference. 1-0 St. Louis, 3:35 left in the 1st, shots are 5-2 for the Blues.

#NHLJets will now go to the power play for the first time tonight as Morgan Barron is interfered with. Winnipeg is just 2-for-14 on the PP. PP1 now is Ehlers, Vilardi, Connor, Perfetti and Morrissey.

Delay of game penalty to the #NHLJets as Dylan DeMelo backhands the puck over the glass. He claimed it was deflected, but after a discussion officials rule it was not. Big, early moment here for Winnipeg, already down 1-0.

First shot of the game is a goal for the St. Louis Blues. Philip Broberg, through a big moving screen, beats Connor Hellebuyck.

Quite a first 90 seconds for the #NHLJets. All offensive zone time, the cycle going early and a nice chance for a flying Nikolaj Ehlers on his first shift.

I was in this building back in 2019 when the #NHLJets and St. Louis Blues played Game 6 of their first-round series. The night ended with handshakes at centre ice. (It also turned out to be Dustin Byfuglien’s final game). Will there be a similar post-game scene tonight?

#NHLJets pregame line rushes: Connor-Namestnikov-Vilardi Ehlers-Lowry-Perfetti Niederreiter-Barron-Appleton Tanev-Toninato-Iafallo Morrissey-DeMelo Samberg-Pionk Stanley-Schenn Hellebuyck Comrie SCRATCH: Miller, Fleury, Heinola, Kupari, Gustafsson, Anderson-Dolan, Driedger OUCH:  Scheifele

#NHLJets have hit the ice for warmup here in St. Louis. The 20 skaters expected to play (including Nikolaj Ehlers) are out here. As are expected scratches Jaret Anderson-Dolan and Haydn Fleury.

CORRECTED #NHLJets line rushes. Looks like Ehlers returns and Toninato makes his series debut: Connor-Namestnikov-Vilardi Ehlers-Lowry-Perfetti Niederreiter-Barron-Appleton Tanev-Toninato-Iafallo Morrissey-DeMelo Samberg-Pionk Stanley-Schenn Hellebuyck Comrie

Sorry one oops on this. Alex Iafallo is on the fourth line instead of Jaret Anderson-Dolan.

#NHLJets line rushes. Sure looks like Nikolaj Ehlers returns. And Dominic Toninato makes his series debut Connor-Namestnikov-Vilardi Ehlers-Lowry-Perfetti Niederreiter-Barron-Appleton Tanev-Toninato-Anderson-Dolan Morrissey-DeMelo Samberg-Pionk Stanley-Schenn Hellebuyck Comrie

#NHLJets have hit the ice for morning skate here in St. Louis. And in a very significant development, Nikolaj Ehlers has shed his non-contact and is in a regular sweater for the first time. Hmmm….

I asked Jim Montgomery how his team handled the 8-hour plane delay in Winnipeg. Cards, Netflix, naps mentioned. Then, as the St. Louis coach left the room, he joked off-camera with reporters that “I was in the OR.” A cheeky nod to #NHLJets Scott Arniel’s medical degree dig.

The St. Louis Blues spent 8 bonus hours in Winnipeg on Thursday because their plane had maintenance issues. Eventually a replacement was sent. They got home at 9 pm instead of 1 pm. HC Jim Montgomery noted this happened earlier in year and they “roll with the punches.”

ST. LOUIS - The #NHLJets have been here before. This time, they hope to be the ones forcing the handshake line inside Enterprise Center and moving on to bigger and better things. My latest for @winnipegfreepress.com includes a quick trip down memory lane. www.winnipegfreepress.com/breakingnews...

First team to 10 wins tonight in Edmonton /Los Angeles? 6 minutes. 12 shots. 4 goals.

Every first round NHL playoff series in the East is now over. Every series in the West is ongoing. (For at least another 45 minutes or so anyways).

I’m en route to St. Louis but #NHLJets HC Scott Arniel just told reporters back in Winnipeg, including colleague @wiebesworld.bsky.social, that Mark Scheifele won’t travel with team and is out for Game 6. Wouldn’t say if he’s in concussion protocol. Big loss for team as they try to finish the Blues.

Turns out not such a quick layover. Maintenance issue means we are in third hour of flight delay here in Minneapolis, waiting on a replacement plane. 28 hours and counting of being awake. Starting to fade. Afternoon nap in St. Louis not looking so promising at this point!
