Only thing holding us back from the full fascist slide is our 19th Century-designed parliamentary democracy (as opposed to the US's 18th C-designed elective republic), the remnants of Whitlam's legacy, and the utter feebleness of the LNP — it'll only take one vaguely canny leader to do it.

This story is so horrifying it is actually also a perfect case study of media literacy. Look at this headline by the BBC. Is this how one should write the headline for the story of an army massacring medics, burying the ambulances, dumping the bodies in a mass grave, and then lying about it?
