Be warned. You have to see it to believe it...

Not as hardcore or focused as Violation, but I was still pleasantly surprised.

Ich war auch dabei. Es hat mit dem gemeinsamen Klatschen während der Auseinandersetzung, egal für oder gegen den Statement, um den Start des Films zu bitten, doch alles ziemlich friedlich deeskaliert denke ich...

So which parts of the 國會改革 or 吹哨者保護法 do you find problematic and are politically motivated? So when DPP pushed for the EXACT same reforms it was not dysfunctional or politically motivated, only when the evil "Chinese Commies", i.e. those who are not DPP loyalists, do it?

4) Lastly, DPP pushed to reform 財劃法 while it was the opposition; KMT when in power was the one blocking all attempts. Just like 國會改革、司法改革、吹哨者保護法...DPP wanted them ONLY when it was the opposition, but blocks them when it holds the power. Just like KMT now pushes for laws it used to block.

3) spread by fervent DPP party loyalists to whom the party can do no wrong, pontificated by self-proclaimed foreign "Taiwan experts" who're practically illiterate when it comes to our country's language and only repeat DPP's talking points, perpetuated by the well-meaning expats community in Taiwan.

2) I find a rational discourse on the cut impact rather impossible, when misinformation and half-truths are spouted by government officials, unchecked by 台灣事實查核中心,propagandized by 三立新聞、自由時報、民視, Taiwan's very own equivalent of "Fox News", memefied by PR teams disguised as social media groups,

1) The budget cut consists of less than 7% of the total budget. The government has a budget of 2兆9億 2025, slightly more than the budget for 2024. However, that is enough for 卓榮泰 to claim this is the "beginning of R.O.C.'s destruction".

Ich befürchte, ab sofort werden wir weniger Tanzen aber mehr Arschlecken sehen.

4: 范雲 made it sound like 黃國昌 specifically targeted Academic Sinica, and said he should "kneel in front of AS and repent" when he was doing his job reviewing the budget as a legislator, voted in by the people of Taiwan. Using half-truths to mislead people is just dishonest.
comment in response to post
3: (continued) DPP wants a budget of 3兆1千億, 10% of which is cut by the opposition KMT/TPP. The opposition Tsai Ing-wen in 2012 wanted to cut 20% of the government's budget because "she's been a leader in agencies" so she knows "the government or those agencies will live just fine with a 10% cut."

2: Example - Tsai Ying-wen (who claims to have received 1.5 doctor's degree from LSE in less than 2 years so she must know these things) said in 2012 (when DPP was the opposition) that「現在政府機關所有預算都減20%,一定要大砍」。She wants to cut 20% of the government's budget, does that mean she wants to destroy AS?
comment in response to post
1: 政府機關預算 is approved or rejected every year. Just because AS is run by the government and the government's budget is cut, doesn't mean anyone is targeting AS. If that's the case, no legislators in Taiwan are ever allowed to cut the government's budget, because they'll be accused of destroying AS.
comment in response to post
Actually, 范雲 very specifically called out 黃國昌 for "teaming up with KMT to destroy AS". Attached is the proposal, which all further discussions should be based on, not just one individual's opinion, right? I can't claim to know how it'll affect my country, but clearly 范雲 is not being factual here.

Interesting; in the news report you cited, I only see that the DPP legislator 范雲 claims and slams the shameless 黃國昌 has proposed to cut 中研院’s budget; but if you actually go through the proposal, nowhere is 中研院 ever mentioned? Here's 黃’s response to 范’s accusation: youtu.be/MktaGHVj2CA?...

Here's an interesting idea: what if you can listen to an audiobook while the words appear on your smartphone so you can read along? Like music streaming services showing song lyrics on their apps? (To be continued...?)

Since I have little time to read, I really appreciate being able to be "read to" when commuting or taking a long walk. It's also pretty awesome when your favorite authors read their own books. Perhaps it's something missing from my childhood (I don't remember my parents ever reading me a book). (2)

When reading a book, you're more likely to stop and think, to look up new words, or to go back and to re-read something you really like. Listening to an audiobook is more like going on a ride; the audio keeps going and you just go with the flow. I agree that both are very different experiences. (1)

If Trump uses the US's economic & military power to take over an autonomous territory & another country's property, what will stop Xi from using force to take over Taiwan? Trump is basically proclaiming: powerful countries are entitled to take what they think is theirs, no big deal. Just like Putin.
