I guess we’ll have to wait until Matt Damon or somebody plays him in the takedown movie a la Christian Bale in Vice

A good question. Truthfully i don’t know. My limited and perhaps incorrect gleanings are that he raised real cash from private investors by selling them on the idea of “xAI”, but then turned around and used xAI to buy twitter. Then perhaps uses that $ to pay off that bank debt?

It was a way for Musk to escape the crushing financial arrangement of how he bought Twitter. He was able to prop up the valuation. He may have escaped the margin call scenarios that would have evaporated lots of his wealth.

Yeah that’s good framing. But to continue the analogy (at least in lots of these cases), you have a club in your hand but are afraid to swing it. I mean how big is the endowments of these Ivy League universities that are bowing down onto the floor? They can’t be bothered to put up a fight?

I know, brother. I don’t get it either. First chapter of “On Tyranny” says that in authoritarian regimes, most power is given up without a fight. It’s like a thief is standing outside your front door, so you open your door and hand them things you think they might want.

It’s so sad that even world leaders have to make statements that pretend Donald Trump is “a smart guy” when everyone outside of MAGA know he’s a moron.

“You see, son, we come from a long line of gifted blood clotters. It’s how we survived the war. Some men avoid a stab wound. We take it and staunchly carry on.
