A good question. Truthfully i don’t know. My limited and perhaps incorrect gleanings are that he raised real cash from private investors by selling them on the idea of “xAI”, but then turned around and used xAI to buy twitter. Then perhaps uses that $ to pay off that bank debt?

It was a way for Musk to escape the crushing financial arrangement of how he bought Twitter. He was able to prop up the valuation.
He may have escaped the margin call scenarios that would have evaporated lots of his wealth.
