I read a good amount. Typically fantasy/sci-fi. I listen a lot too - some podcasts, history, economics, politics. I love space and science. 한국어를 공부한다.

I don't understand one of the things he says - it's a legal order, but it's trampling in first amendment and states rights. How can it be both? How can a legal order trample on constitutional rights?

Not terribly impressed. Not a lot of conversation of what the culture of democracy looks like, what happened to it, what we can do to revitalize it. Yes, these democratic countries are having problems. We don't need another article complaining that everything is worse than it was - we need more.

The most interesting use of AI in videogames that I can think of: using mini LLMs for unimportant NPCs to have more unique lines when you interact with them. Haven't heard of anyone trying that though.

I wish they would be as principled as North Korea. Then at least I could know what to expect, and not just this non-stop choas.

Wait, discord is dying next? Ugh. Is there any good alternative for the next online space that is usable?

The most interesting smart-home related article I've read talked about a guy using his bluetooth toothbrush as the trigger for his home to start his morning routine. Like, I get it. But there are some creative uses.

I loved his reply to being asked about this. Talk about being an easily-trigger snowflake.

Lets also awknoledge the irony of creating additional departments to focus on government efficiency when we already have things like IGs and the GAO that are literally already trying to do the things DOGE claims (and utterly fails at) to do?

Well, they must not have gone to university and math is hard.
I feel like the impact of universities is understated there - how much of an impact does the knowledge taught at universities have? Especially in a post-manufacturing economy.

They can't exactly come out and say they aren't ready because the government is trying to dismantle them. We should all be worried.

Part if me wonders if he really did this without telling anyone, or if things are just so disorganized that he did try to make noise about it and everyone ignored him.
Like, I'm making stuff up. I just wouldn't be surprised.

The golden dome just seems so... stupid ti me. What threat is it trying to defend the US from? Is it worth spending all that money for that imagined threat? Would there be better ways to defend the US from a foreign ballistic missile? Like, idk, not alienating every ally we have?

People who are determined to be victims will always find a way to be a victim.
The trick is to care about others, no matter how terrible things might be for you. If everyone was more committed to lifting one another up, everyone would be lifted up.

I feel like the ability to peacefully disagree is being lost. In a world of algorithms and AI, it's so easy for people to see only what they want to see, and what encourages then to continue to engage. Now when people have disagreements, rather than trying to find common ground things just shut down

Give me a job where I can be as free from responsibility, and I promise I wouldn't even destroy the American economy, or our global reoutation!

Yes, there are people out there who say and do horrible things in relation to video games. But there's the same when you look at sports betting. Video games have also had massive positive impacts on people and their lives. A few anecdotes and a Netflix drama are not indicative of large scale issues

I think he's made it clear - he's not going to do this legally, going through the legistlature. trump is laughing all the way to mar a lardo, because he signs whatever eo he wants to ignore the process and norms and break everything his greasy fingers can reach

The military and IC and instructed repeatedly that OPSEC and security is everyone's responsibility. If you don't know that everyone cam hear what you're saying and hearing, you stop whatever is going on. Compeltely inexcusable from everyone involved in that group, from VP on down.

How are you going to hold them accountable? Keep waiting for approval rates to drift lower? Or get up and lead the opposition?

I would think one of the most vital things a genAI could learn would be how to tell truth from fiction, and how to correctly cite a source. If they can't do that, it's all just hot air and noise.

I mean, it absolutely can fail. And a lot of people will be hurt if it does. But something new can always rise from the ashes - which it has in many other countries throughout history.
I don't want it to, but maybe then we can build smarter protections into the next constitution.
