This is such a bonkers, pro-police interpretation considering that most "misconduct" by police officers that would warrant criminal charges in just about any non-police circumstance is handled internally. So none of that is relevant? Right.

It's so boring to represent Alberta as a sea of Conservatives. Look at how many ridings have NDP/Liberals splitting the vote. Look at the percentage of popular support the NDP got in the last provincial election. We're so much more interesting & varied, as a province, that eastern media can imagine.

Scientists are fleeing to Canada; I hope Petrova applies for asylum there.

I wonder if the more effective response (which may be later) is that government agencies RUN on taxpayer's money (i.e., taxes). So why would they be taxed? What purpose would it serve?

at least it's still alive & well on the Other Place, "at least" referencing a consistent stance on "consent"

it took me about zero seconds to identify that as the mcdonalds on 109 & argyll. mcdonald's is one of those bizarre cultural touchstones where traffic is so gentle (i.e. non-vehicular-homicidal-y) towards pedestrians tryna get there

Given that USAID procures condoms for $0.05 (for Gaza, Mozambique), that number, points out AJ, is ONE BILLION condoms. 😱 The more you know, eh? aljazeera.com/news/2025/1/...

Pay less in taxes? While the US is ramping up middle class taxes to pay for tax cuts for billionaires? At least we get universal healthcare out of the deal. Also, this "Governor Trudeau" stuff is so infantile. Like, we get it. You don't recognize our national autonomy.

looks like AI nailed the "don't trust smiling white men" aspect of true crime-slash-life, tho

My guess (from someone with a legal education) would be that the text incorrectly drew conclusions of law from evidence. Witnesses and evidence are facts, not conclusions of law. Judges/juries make those. You can see "supposed" in the text, which implies to me that a review of this type has occured.

Funny — for a second I thought that stock image had been used on one of my pubs. But it's not! Just almost identical! hazlitt.net/longreads/pe...

It's also, you know, a term to ensure that research produces an unbiassed result. The person who wrote this list doesn't own a dictionary.

I stopped trying to WFH & spent four days sleeping ~13h/day & yesterday I walked around the block. Ten days of it! The RSV is bonkers. At least I don't have pneumonia, as my doc 1st feared.

It's almost like a fairy tale with an evil wish-giver. "There will be peace in Palestine...[just without any Palestinians]".
