It's like they're fighting for the right to let the world know they're racist.

Thanks for this! I was looking for Long Island May Day actions yesterday and only saw NYC's events.

They seem to be afraid of penises, or the potential for there to be a penis, or perhaps what used to be a penis. Peniphobia. Penis Panic. Perpetual Phear of the Peen.

Yup. It was so hard to convince staff that being old & confused wasn't "just got normal age-related dementia." I couldn't get them to treat the mental symptoms as something new needing intervention. Within a day of coming home she was back to normal - but couldn't remember the hospital days.

Hospital had my grandmother listed as having dementia when she was in ICU. I had to keep explaining to them that no, trying to punch a nurse and thinking the person in the next bed was her deceased brother was not her usual behavior. I'm sure it was sleep deprivation and 24/7 fluorescent lights.

For me, it is the concept of metal entering my flesh, no matter how shallowly. Hard pass, thanks.

I recently developed an allergy to bandage adhesive and yeah, the alternatives are great. I have to keep remembering to tell medical staff to use them though.

Thanks mostly to a very patient Francesca I learned a lot about trans people and ways to advocate for trans rights.

This would free up space for more offices and solve the bathroom question!
The woman, stunned, turned and walked away without a word. I think she put what I said into the gossip mill and people stopped asking for fear I would actually make it happen.

The bathroom questions came to an abrupt halt when the top guy's secretary demanded to know where Francesca peed. Fed up, I pointed out that in Ally McBeal (then a top show), the law firm had unisex bathrooms. Since we were short on office space, we should make one bathroom on every floor unisex.

I boned up on the issues quick. I had known the person for years - she was a long-time employee - and stood up for her internally. Which mostly meant answering other staffers' bathroom questions.
Endless bathroom questions.

I didn't really think about it until 1998 when I became a department head at a nonprofit run by a conservative religious organization. The day I started in the role was the day a trans staffer came out and an agency-wide memo announced her new name and pronouns.

The folks complaining about the pay being too low. I can just hear my right-leaning blue-collar relatives taking both positions.

These are the same people who will complain bitterly about blueberries costing $12 a pint in a couple weeks.

Take a bus or Amtrak from NYC to Buffalo and you never leave the enforcement zone.

They've got all the red areas to work in and it looks like they're taking advantage of that now more than before.

I don't understand why people ask him questions that depend, in part, on him having empathy because he doesn't have it and can't fake it if he's not prepped and sees value to himself for expressing it.

Remind me again the last time Carville had a winning campaign?
