I like how even their actors were like “yeah why are we here tho” about it.

Sometimes when I’m butching it up, I too try to walk like John Wayne. And then realize yeah, he did walk like that. It’s a bit silly.

It’s going to be interesting to see how it all plays out. The governor of New York State and the mayor of the City do usually have an antagonistic relationship. That makes sense. NYS isn’t just NYC and the lifestyle of someone in Syracuse isn’t the lifestyle of someone in Brooklyn.
But also.

Meanwhile in the city we’ve been protesting her and Adams daily.
We have a mayoral primary in a few months. Petitioning starts in a few weeks. The winner of the Democratic primary will in all likelihood become our new mayor. The governor’s race is next year.

And when I say “upstate” I don’t mean the Hudson Valley or Albany. I’m talking the Mohawk Valley, ADK, and proper North Country. These are areas that lean conservative. They don’t like her either.

But it’s wild to see the NYT talking about her as a “Rambo” against Trump when I don’t think she’s gonna get reelected. And it’s not because she’s too anti-Trump or lefty, it’s that she’s not doing enough.

So Hochul busting strikes and threatening to close several prisons means absolutely wiping some places off the map.
(And again? I’m of the opinion it should have never gotten to that point in terms of economic development.)

And I’ve got my own take on the Upstate prison towns (it’s basically that if your town is dependent on a prison for employment/its economy that’s and and you should be ashamed and develop an actual community), but there are a lot of places that are basically company towns via a prison.

I adore academic philosophy but we can be quite up our own collective ass in jargon. This isn’t that. When technical terms are needed, they are well explained. If you’re an interested reader, I’m sure you’ll get something from it.

Oh!! I did forget to mention that he uses "ore" as his first person pronoun when he's thinking to himself!
I don't know that I saw him use a personal pronoun when speaking aloud in the novel (yet), but in the anime his first person pronoun is generally "watashi."

I definitely don’t need to go out of my way to make my Japanese weirder (I already sound like I’m straight out of 1987 most of the time) but eh. Could be fun.
What hilarious is that they do tone down some of Char’s Char-isms. Like I did not catch a 貴様 (neutral) which he does use.

That too. But Francis has taken an abrupt turn for the worst.

I’m not a practicing Catholic (haven’t been since I was living in a Catholic Worker shelter as a kid), and Francis def said some things I disagree with here and there. But he’s also been pretty decent as far as the leader of global Catholicism goes. I do think current events might be killing him.

NYCC and JfREJ have been out daily (10am) at City Hall (and sometimes Hochul’s Manhattan office) to call for Hochul to remove Adams. So if you’ve got some free time any day coming up~
