This is not receiving enough attention

@timmiller.bsky.social and jumped on camera last night to run through some of the best clips of Republicans saying that going after organizations’ tax status because of politics was the end of democracy. Which is exactly what they’re currently doing to Harvard…

Currently thinking about the through line between immigration becoming increasingly *gestures* this and 9/11, and my heartbreaking conclusion is that the terrorists won 9/11.

This looks like a sad frog

These are unusually bad times

We've seen videos like this before, but usually when you see a tearful wife pleading with the kidnappers who have taken her husband, she's not talking to the U.S. president

Today, Mohsen Mahdawi, a legal resident of Vermont, walked into an immigration office to complete a final step for citizenship. Instead, he was arrested by plain-clothed, armed individuals with faces covered. This is immoral, inhumane, and illegal. He must receive due process and be released.

Trump defies judge’s order and we are taking the last few steps before arriving at constitutional crisis. www.thebulwark.com/p/trump-defi...

I say this as a historian — history will remember you utterly failing to meet the challenge of this moment. At the rate you’re going, “Schumer” is going to end up somewhere between “Chamberlain” or “Quisling”

I wish these institutions, including law firms, universities and even foreign countries, would understand that every time they give Trump a "win" even if it's just obsequious flattery and begging without much substance, it feeds his megalomania and makes him even more drunk with power. Just say no.

It was hard to find decent vantage point for a picture of the crowd, but here we are in the cold and rain in Newtown, CT.

Also I hope we're all on this same page EVERYONE needs to be brought out of that El Salvadorian hell hole they were ALL wrongfully deported. I mean it's good to focus on 'And this guy was here legally and not ever a gang member AND they're Venezuelan' but NO ONE should've been sent there

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: living through historic times fucking sucks.

I for one hope our allies retaliate immediately and escalate the fuck out of this shit so that there is no possible way for him to pretend it’s a victory because fuck him and the party he rode in on. *inhales*

This piece from @jvl.bsky.social is one of the most important insightful I have read since January 20th 2025.

‘For God’s Sake, Fellow Lawyers, Stand Up to Trump’ By the senior partners at law firm Keker, Van Nest & Peters. www.nytimes.com/2025/03/30/o...

Is anybody keeping track of the number of jobs lost due to doge? I figure someone must be doing it but I can’t find the data. Would appreciate a link if you can find one.

I just remembered the first time I heard of Pete Hegseth www.bbc.com/news/world-u...

CHUCK SCHUMER HAS TO GO. He’s way past his best by date and I’m not talking about age, I’m talking about usefulness. Senate Dems need to step up and have some courage.

Bullshit. When government acts, it must take the time ensure it acts sensibly and appropriately. Take no action until you’ve done the background work to ensure you action won’t unnecessarily harm anyone. This isn’t a difficult ask.

Americans (myself included) tend to laugh off the Trump noises about annexing Canada as obvious nonsense, but the rest of the world is taking the threat seriously. Our media should reflect that reality and hold him accountable for the serious damage he’s causing.

How DOGE will *add* to the federal budget: It will fire government workers who will be replaced by private contractors at higher rates. It will cancel contracts that will be renegotiated at higher rates.
