So sorry for your loss. Sending you good wishes and strength.

This could just be a weird coincidence and I do not want to be irresponsible with this but it's concerning, for sure. I hope this is a one-off random rise in cases and nothing evil.

Is she based somewhere? Or is she not? She's a direct descendant of Schrodinger's cat, so, you know better. Could be India, could be Norway. Speaking of Norway, have you ever been to Norway? What do you think of it?

Do I?

Man, I wish somebody took my cat out for walks.

Agreed. For quite a while, I felt that this place is just all the liberals clubbed together who moved out of X because Elon took over. Hence, excessive outrage.
But I guess there is more to Bsky than just that. Been noticing a steady shift and in-stream of the other side of X as well.

If anything, Punjabis are non-conformists. Do you even read what gurus really had to say?
Just because I disagreed with you, I'm all that you called me just now? How fragile is your value system?

India and Pakistan did reach a ceasefire agreement, however, Pakistan already broke it within three hours of announcing it.

It is already broken as well. Even before you posted this. :)
Such is Pakistan! :(

Hope this helps a little with the current situation:

As an Indian Punjabi myself - no, sir. Indian Punjabis see Pakistani Punjabis as Pakistanis.
The Canadian Sikhs that you probably refer to think of themselves as khalistanis but that's a different issue and is unrelated to what you're saying.

India and Pakistan have announced that it was bilateral and the US has no role in it. Can't really say what it was, but anyway, Pakistan has already broken the ceasefire.

Pakistan is a joke.
Trivia - DGISPR (senior army officer) of Pakistan's father was a very close associate of Osama Bin Laden (publicly available information).
What do you expect from this country?

Most people didnt hear about the terror attack on Kashmir. The Indian strike on Pakastan made big news so many will think incorrectly that India is the aggressor. Thank you for setting people straight.

Load of BS.

My concern was with the headline but I understand what you are saying. I could have been a little more mindful about how I put it across.
comment in response to

I may have a little extra frustration with this headline because I feel that it's unfair but it's definitely not misdirected.
For a responsible news outlet, I think it shouldn't be that difficult to write-"After the recent Pahalgam attacks, India retaliated against terrorists in/attacked Pakistan.."

I understand the uneasiness. It's less of an optimism and more of a hope, and assumption that we stick to patterns from past instances and not go for unprecedented.
Fingers crossed, indeed.

Would you like to take a few moments to recall Osama Bin Laden's last day?
Nobody really wants to kill innocent civilians but if you know a murderer in your family, and you decide to let them stay with you while they are running away from the law, are they not accomplices?
What's your point?

Although instability in India plays out in China's favor, they still wouldn't want to see damage to their investments especially while Trump is fighting his economic war against them.
India already didn't want this, so, we may graciously accept if China mediates.
comment in response to
post
I doubt that this will go beyond a few skirmishes. Pakistan knows that they cannot afford a full blown war because they don't have the funds.
China may be a surprise mediator because they do have a lot of investments in BRI and Pakistan.

You are right. However, there's a reason Instagram reels are so popular. Almost everybody loves instant gratification, confirmation bias and a sense of belonging.
Many people rarely click through the links to go through the entire thing.

Unfortunately, the problem in the longer run is that the next time would have to be a much bigger response, assuming that this gets under control from hereon.
Knowing the past patterns, there will, unfortunately, be a next time. It's going to be increasingly difficult than this one

A. The narrative that was shifting to Hindu-Muslim (which the terrorists wanted as well) should probably now become India-Pakistan
B. We still want accountability for the lapse in security. As Shashi Tharoor put it - for now, we back this govt's actions but we will be asking questions as well.
comment in response to

I agree with most of the points in the article. That's how any rational person should think. The most important point here is that the govt is bound to respond above the benchmark set in Balakot. It's a lot about perception and managing the nation's emotions.

Geopolitical tensions include psyops. I have no doubt that India would also participate. It's just the feature of a war-like situation.
comment in response to

I don't have blind trust. I was highlighting the stance India is taking - not the targets. To come out and put the details for world scrutiny must suggest the intent. I have doubts as much as any rational human would. I do, however, back the intent.
comment in response to

Conveniently missing details, or just not highlighting it in the headlines when we know that most people rarely ever open the link to read further is ethically shady IMO. It's lying by omission.

India did not want this in the first place because frankly, we have more to lose than a country that is in economic and political shambles ever since its independence and partition from India.

Look at how much misinformation is floating from Pakistan news channels as well. They've constantly shown old videos and pictures from unrelated incidents and are trying to show an "upper hand" in this situation and acting as victims.
