DOJ, NASA, FBI among government entities telling staff, according to various reports, not to reply to Musk email asking them what they did last week. Effectively, a moment of chaos. Created on purpose. As federal employees get conflicting orders. Disruption seems to be the goal.

This was always about cutting the federal government so the tax cuts for the very wealthy don’t expire. This was never about “efficacy.”

The understaffed Social Security Administration faces further cuts and office closures at the same time as retiring Baby Boomers have caused a surge in the number of people receiving benefits. https://propub.li/4ia5PX5

Best Mayor in the country. Best police commissioner in the country. Safest major city in the country and working everyday to make it safer.

Michelle Wu coming with that Big Papi “This is our F____ing city” energy! 💪

This is our city. We’re going to continue following & enforcing the laws to keep all Bostonians safe. And it goes without saying that our police commissioner has my complete confidence & support.

In case you missed it, the Trump administration is making an end run around the court order that unfroze NIH spending: by not allowing NIH to place notices in the Federal Register, it has stopped them from holding any grant evaluation meetings. Basically, there’s no way to evaluate grants right now.

Dr. M. Allison Stegner — granddaughter of writer Wallace Stegner — is an ecologist who worked for the U.S. Geological Survey in Moab, until the Trump/Musk layoffs. Here's what she wrote about what happened.

It’s not just Space X. Musk was able to save Tesla because of a loan from the Dept of Energy. Here he is in 2013 filled with gratitude for the federal agency & the taxpayers who saved his business. From reporting by @puck.news. airmail.news/issues/2025-...

"the poll shows that majorities oppose cutting taxes on corporations. It finds that 63 percent say their top priority for tax policy is helping 'working-class families,' versus one percent—no, really, one percent—who say it’s helping corporations and the wealthiest Americans."

Congratulations to Blue Mountain Jamaican Restaurant on their new liquor license! We’re proud to support small, local businesses like Blue Mountain with funding that helps them grow and thrive. Wishing Marcia and the team all the best!

The City of Boston is leading 40+ mayors, cities, and counties in an amicus brief against the Trump Administration's drastic and illegal cuts to federal research funding—cuts that will lead to immediate job losses nationwide.

The Trump Administration’s plan to end Temporary Protected Status for Haitian immigrants in August is cruel, arbitrary, and illegal. The current TPS determination was based on a thorough review of the dangerous circumstances in Haiti and cannot be shredded for political gain.

Congratulations to the BCYF Marshall Community Center sewing club on their beautiful new bags they made!

Even the most disturbing RFK Jr. headline always manages to have a detail inside creepier than you could have imagined. I’m sorry, did you just say Black kids should have a chance to get “re-parented”???? Gift link wapo.st/4hW2xGI

Thank you to City teams keeping Boston safe through the shifting weather! Storm came on at a higher intensity earlier on & sleet lasted longer than forecasted, but Public Works crews are focusing on clearing slushy spots to prevent refreezing when temps drop. We’ll be on it all through the night.

On the Record with the best police commissioner in the country @wcvb5.bsky.social

“In an attempt to remind us all that there are still elected officials out there who believe in serving their constituents and their communities, we have found a reason to smile: Michelle Wu, the mayor of Boston.” @thedanrather.bsky.social steady.substack.com/p/more-than-... @wutrain.bsky.social

BREAKING WAPO: Elon Musk's DOGE is seeking access to a heavily-guarded IRS system that includes detailed financial information about every taxpayer, business, and nonprofit in the country — sparking alarm within the tax agency. www.washingtonpost.com/business/202...

Kudos to the school administrator who wrote this letter for making it clear to families what happened and who they should blame. This is the way to build a coalition--with a shared adversary and a reason to fight.

You can’t divorce a candidate’s housing agenda from the broader context of why they’re running for office. It’s very clear that Josh Kraft is running for mayor to hand power back to the Good Ol’ Boys networks that Wu has challenged. Therefore, his calls for making housing more affordable ring hollow

Today is Boston Family Days and the MFA is packed. It was prescient that the Wu admin piloted BPS Sundays last year, and then expanded the program. Viewing art can be transcendent; a regenerative experience; a way to build strength. Recommend! ❤️

The big food delivery corporations set terms forcing their drivers to put speed (/profits) before safety & already collect all the data showing where dangerous driving is happening. These common sense regs for liability insurance & aggregate data sharing will keep everyone on our roads safer.

Over the last year State Senators & business groups blocked residential tax relief even after reaching a compromise. Now they’re back in session & the burden on residents is indisputable. We’re not letting up.

Thank you for your leadership, Madam Chair @gigi4district1.bsky.social & Madam President @ruthzee.bsky.social! Grateful to all the Councilors who are standing with residents for balanced tax relief to keep families & seniors in their homes.

Still in the early weeks of anytime is mealtime!

I LOVE 💕 City Hall weddings! I often find myself throwing kisses and yelling congratulations to newlyweds and their beautiful families. I can't help myself. Thank you to the @boston.gov City Hall staff that make each couple feel welcome and special.

We’re celebrating 10 years of Love Your Block — our beloved program that has mobilized thousands of Boston residents to beautify their neighborhoods via community-led cleanups.🌷 Plan a cleanup in your neighborhood at boston.gov/loveyourblock.

NEW— Mayor Wu seeks Boston City Council okay for her plan to seek state funding for a new or totally rebuilt Madison Park High School in Roxbury www.dotnews.com/2025/city-wi...

FYI #Bospoli, Josh Kraft donated to Buddy Carter, the sponsor of this bill to buy Greenland and rename it Red, White and Blueland. This man is not our friend.

“a party that has played down the atrocities committed by the Nazis” makes the AfD sound like a bunch of old biddies who can’t face facts. They want to *revive and repeat* the racist policies of the Nazis.

NIH's proposal to cut the grants it pays for medical research will not just hurt elite coastal universities. Who else has a lot at stake? The states of Missouri and North Carolina. The University of Texas Cancer Center. Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

Boston is moving forward on our climate, education, and housing goals to make our city a home for everyone.

"Every working parent should have every option available to them to do what's best for their family, for their health and for their career," says Wu. "I've found the balance that works for my family and allows me to best serve the city, and I'm really grateful to have that opportunity."

Public Works was on a roll last week! 🦺 Used 13 tons of asphalt to repair street & sidewalk defects 🦺 Filled 247 potholes 🦺 Closed 95 CRM cases Repairing sidewalks and filling potholes are just some of the ways we protect Boston's streets. Learn more: www.boston.gov/departments/...

When U.S. customs officials denied that Wong Kim Ark was a citizen in 1895, he took his case to the Supreme Court and won. Today, that decision is the focus of debate over who can be an American.

Look, so much can happen, but I wouldn’t be surprised if the first line of his obit begins, “Drake, the multiplatinum pop star who dominated the charts for years before being murdered by his longtime rival Kendrick Lamar in a notorious war of words, died for real this time. He was 95.”

Snoop and Tom Brady: say no to hate Kendrick: actually

well safe to say we've never seen a rap beef like this one. Getting Samuel L Jackson, Serena Williams, and Mustard to all step on you at the Super Bowl

That Ontario ad was a very Canadian way of saying cut the shit

Vought is giving big banks and giant corporations the green light to scam families. The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau has returned over $21 billion to families cheated by Wall Street. Republicans have failed to gut it in Congress and in the courts. They will fail again.

NEW: The N.I.H. will cut about $4 Billion from federal research grants that support cancer, virus and heart disease research. #Project2025 called for the cuts to end subsidies to "leftist" university agendas. www.nytimes.com/2025/02/07/u...

Executive wants to frame the NIH indirects cut as $4B in savings. But given that NIH returns $2.5 on every $1 investment, this would actually cost US economy a net $6 BILLION (per year!). Not to mention the human costs of wrecking education and research sectors and the communities they serve.
