I’m going to Santa Barbara Friday-Sunday. This will be the longest I’ve been away from my kids since before Iris was even born. I’m very excited, packed already, with a couple of reservations. I need to download some stuff to my kindle. 😎

Tell me what your egg prices are where you live. I can get two dozen for $7 at Costco or a dozen for $3.50 at Trader Joe’s (both places run out), or a dozen for $8.99 at Walmart/any regular grocery store and they are plentiful.

Does anyone have a food/cooking podcast they love? I listened to Didn’t I Just Feed You for years but they ended production on new episodes this fall. It was so good at keeping me motivated as my family’s home cook. They reminded me I’m a person too and to find my own food joy.

We started A Man on the Inside yesterday and just a couple of notes. The daughter monologues about her father to her HUSBAND. As if he has no idea of his own father in-laws backstory. Of course this is for the audience’s sake.

I took myself to lunch yesterday and then had a FaceTime with @jeniferleigh.bsky.social. It was such a good day! Life is so wonderful when your family isn’t home sick! I didn’t even mind cleaning the rubble from my living room for three hours.

Both of my children went to school today! Yippee! Two entire weeks of norovirus in my house has destroyed my sanity. They each missed five days of school. Rory had to do independent study, which was SO MUCH WORK.

Iris slept most of the day while Rory was at school. It’s also a minimum day so I’m already here picking up. Then to the dentist and pharmacy and then band practice. Things are back to normal for one kiddo and I’m happy to make the round trip trek around town.

I took meat out of the freezer to defrost a couple of days ago. Had to cook it today. It’s not an ideal cut for people who are sick! I decided to make Filipino pork adobo. I’ve only made it with chicken before.

Even though I now have two sick kids at home, at the very least I didn’t have to deal with getting one kid ready for school while the other was sick and not going. Iris HATES when her brother stays home. She is unreasonable!
