I just post pictures of my pets.
Apparently I also need to disclose my politics here:
First generation immigrant. My politics are easily described as Bread, Roses and Rifles. I happily block Tankies and MAGA.

I clicked the link on mobile and it had so many ads that I want to support Trump just to spite you.

It's really just compartmentalization.
Life goes on, your dog needs a walk even if the world is on fire.
Cognitive dissonance is when your beliefs and actions are not in alignment.
You still having to actually work despite the political situation is not in conflict with your belief system.

Not an attack on you, Musk has been focused on his image from day one.
I likely would have been a fan if I hadn't had the experience of working at a company that like PayPal was acquired by eBay, so I heard some stories...
Musk won't say that his only real achievement at PayPal was getting fired..
comment in response to

If you ever thought this was true about him, you were misinformed.
Elon sucked since the PayPal days.

Muskolini Swasticars are not going to be selling well anywhere with the retaliatory tariffs and the stigma of owning fascism on wheels.

He could be director of a Trump fan club, but I think that is actually what the plan is for the FBI.

Excuse me, but they are not bribes.
You see they are an investment.
Bribes are what poor people do.

Like I said, it's a ponzi scheme - and the design is very obviously not working due to extended lifespan an aging population and reduced birth rates.
I am perfectly aware that I have no SS funds and am unlikely to have a reliable and well funded government safety net by time I'll need it.

With that said, BYD receives billions annually from the Chinese government in subsidies.
We should offer similar incentives to national EV production and allow BYD to compete in the US market.
comment in response to
post
BYD is why I believe Musk got political and why Trump has been ranting about tariffs.
BYD is the only other profitable EV brand in the world and they are stealing market share from Tesla globally.
If BYD were able to compete in the US without massive tariffs imposed, Tesla would lose.

The idea that they even CAN do so is infuriating.
How?
Communism style price controls?
Subsidies?
Massive deflation of the dollar?
People are uninterested and intentionally ignorant of the details.

In the 80s when I was a kindergartner in the USSR, pretty much all we boys drew was soviet tanks blowing up American ones.
It's bizarre for me to think that 50 years later, that's probably exactly what is still being drawn by kids.

Dude, I am all for calling out companies who gouge us, but if you are going to be mixing revenue and income, you are not making that point.
If they raise prices and buy back stocks, they are shitty.
Nothing in the numbers that you posted is indicative of price gouging.

With all that said, average margin in your average fast food restaurant is usually under 10%.
But that report alone is not showing serious changes in the margins based on price increases.
comment in response to

Revenue yes.
That's just how much money comes in.
That's not profit. If their costs also went up, then it doesn't mean much.
The margin is the difference between their sales numbers and costs of making those sales.

They are saying that the margin went from 16% to 16.9%.
That's not really screwing people.

USAA absolutely and totally shafted me when a driver ran a stop sign and totaled my vehicle.
Worst insurance experience I have ever had.
They used to be really good ten years ago, but not anymore.

The deer should be removed from a residential area as they are hazard to the human population as a road hazard and disease vector.
We do not live in a Jehovas Witness fairytale land.
They are not an endangered species and should be culled as needed.
comment in response to

The US is full of state game lands and national parks.
For deer it's not an issue of space, but safety and food that drives them into the suburbs.

Counties here have hired sharpshooters in the past, but obviously it's an unpopular measure.
I don't have a better solution beyond that.
I would actually be totally on board with reintroducing wolves but pretty sure the farmers would lose their mind.

If they were pests like they are in Australia and New Zealand. I absolutely would understand the need to cull them.
Grow up.
comment in response to

Absolutely. And this freak of nature doesn't want to impact a 600lb deer.
The deer by the observed action seems to really want to impat me though.
Happy to hear other suggestions for how this deer impact risk can be mitigated.
comment in response to

I think we should cull the herds that infest the suburbs because we have killed all the wolves.
It's not that crazy of a concept.
The herds living in the suburbs cannot be hubted and have no predators.
They are an active threat to human traffic and spread Lyme diseases through ticks.

If it runs out in front of me or at me while I am on a motorcycle, it's pretty dumb. That is a regular occurrence.
And it is going to kill me or main me if I impact it.
Where is your empathy?

Deer are a pest in many parts of the US and they are a major problem for road safety.
If acknowledgement of the problems of unmitigated deer population makes me an idiot, so be it.
comment in response to

Yeah clearly not a lot of PA people here where you have to dodge these idiots every evening and have herds hanging out in your yard at night.
With no predators in residential areas deer are effectively a pest.
One these dumb things ran into the side of my neighbors car.

There are two crazy things here.
One is that these are given out.
Two is that they are given out because the Russian soldiers are so inept that they need a guide on how to end themselves.

But if violence is never the answer, why do we have the right to bear arms?
As far as I can tell, our rights are to talk shit and shoot shit.

I would want it same as a self directed 401k.
You decide where your money goes.
You want to buy government bonds which is what social security does now, go for it.
If you want to YOLO it into a start up, go for it. Just don't buy $HAWK
